We are super pleased to present Dj D, another one of our 45 Queens!
Believe us when we say, you're in for a treat!
Dj D has this to say about her mix:
'The Forty Five Kings 2nd Anniversary stream will always be a special one for me; my first time back on decks after 40 days without music following the passing of my honourable dad, the man that introduced me to the humble 45.
Hence I wanted to take a moment to replicate part of what I had done on the live stream in mix form, a Forty Five Kings mix that had been on my ‘to do’ list for some time.
So here it is – a composition of some of my favorite 45s hitting a number of eras and genres from 1965 to now, many of which fall under that hip hop samples list, with a few DJ D blends along the way.
Big ups to the Forty Five Kings Collective for keepin it real, for keepin this format alive and well in 2021, and for bringing those with a serious passion for that 7” vinyl together.

The Forty Five Kings Present Will Class.
Will has this to say about his mix:
"I don't DJ for a living, I play out when & where I can purely for fun & beer.
Nowadays as a 45 year old 45 collector, I am more likely to be playing Hiphop, Soul & Reggae.
However, a massive part of my musical story is early Rave & Jungle.
I wouldn't be the man I am today if it wasn't for the rave/free party scene in the 90s.
In celebration of that, this is a light-hearted, ruff & ready reminder of my youth in early 90s UK."
We think for this one you need to push the furniture back, dig out the glow sticks, baggy pants, furry hats and stock up on king size rizzlas and go crazy!
Like what you've heard, please help spread the word.
Stay safe and well.

Scottie has this to say about his mix:
The Forty Five Kings have kindly invited me back to spin some of my treasured 45s again, unfortunately most are in storage but I grabbed a few boxes and luckily came across, some new Soul, laced with Rare Groove and played with some of my signature madcap beats towards the end!
I've got to say that Keb Darge introduced me to the madder sevens well over 20 years ago, we went to see him, yes he does have a piss pot, a few times, just mad and truly brilliant all I can say is Spunky Onions!
If you listen then you will find out!
Thanks to the team and hopefully, just like Arnie ‘’I’ll be back”.
We know you'll be back and this mix is the reason why!

My Therapist has this to say about his mix:
This is a Covid mix! These are some of my favourite funk, soul and reggae records I've bought during the pandemic.
The earliest one I bought was Leontine Dupree - Waiting for My Baby, which I bought one day into the first lockdown and the latest I bought is Deacon John - You Don't Know How To Turn Me On.
If I was at a gig and someone was playing any of these tunes, I’d be all over every track either Shazaming or trying to find out what the DJ was playing. (Sorry yes I’m that guy
!).
As they were all bought so recently I can confidently tell you to put this mix together cost me £214.99 (including VAT but not postage), which considering the cost of some 45s is pretty cheap.
The oldest physical record is Inez & Charlie Foxx - My Momma Told Me from 1965, the newest is Perkie & The Co-operators - Concrete, Steel & Stone.
We adore this mix and know you will also.

The Forty Five Kings Present Jaybreaks Nonstop.
Jaybreaks has this to say about his mix:
Jazz From Jupiter is a project that I released on my Mixcloud page three years ago.
I wanted to make use of my spacey, out there Soul Jazz Joints, they where
good joints waiting to be lit in the right mix.
It was early in my cover design game as well as I ripped an image straight off a
Ramsay Lewis LP I used in the mix.
But the idea kind of stuck and the format with Jupiters image over colorful rays
is the formula I shall keep.
Vol 2 was released a month ago with such a positive response I decided to roll out an all 45's mix to share with my 45's brethren in The Forty-Five Kings Collective.
We know your going to dig this one, so if you've enjoyed what you heard, help spread the word by reposting, sharing, liking and commenting.
Thanks so much for your time and support.

A few words from Dj B:
I grew up with vinyl records and I never really gave up.
I fell in love with Reggae music in the 90's and I started buying Jamaican records, then I made friends with others who love Reggae and we started to create a dj crew specialising in Reggae, we played in pubs, parties and rented some gyms to organise parties, we played festivals and radio shows...and then we split...Life...but I never gave up buying 45's and keep playing for my radio show. I love my Reggae 7" so much, even if it takes a lot of space ah ah ah!
About the mix:
It's an early 2000's Reggae 45's set recorded live in one shot, with a few dub fx Dirk Elbel after my coffee, so it's not perfect...it's a morning thing!
I took the freedom to add some samples on top, make special Forty Five Kings/Education sound jingles, and I have also put on top of that, on version, some special Jingles that Jamaican Artist have done for me for my Education Sound System.

The Forty Five Kings are once again proud to Present Mikster Hoffmain out of Germany for his 2nd mix for us!
Mikster Hoffmain is a Dj with extensive tastes and even deeper crates and is always looking for a cross section of sounds and for this mix he plays only cover versions, in fact he polays 45 x 45s in this mix!
Mikster Hoffmain, has this to say about this mix:
'About the dish...

We love sharing these mixes with you and it's great to see that many of you also enjoy them and help to spread the word about what we do and this mix is another reason why we love doing this.
Kid Mince has this to say about his mix:
'My first mix for The Forty Five Kings was a strictly 1980's American hip hop / old school electro affair so for this 2nd mix, although it's still fairly hip hop centric, I decided to throw in the proverbial kitchen sink crossing several genres, decades, and parts of the world!
Using OG pressings, reissues, and maybe even a cheeky lathe cut or two (!!!) I had a blast putting this robust, rough & ready funky 45's gumbo together.
I hope you enjoy, Kings & Queens'.
We certainly did and now it's your turn!

We are super pleased to return for our first mix in 2021 with this absolute classic house session all from original vinyl 45s.
Mister Salt has this to say about his mix:
'I wanted to take us all back to the golden days, 89-91, when it was all about 808 beats, pianos and blips and beeps.
A time when the dancefloor was packed with happy faces.
What we're gonna do here is go back, back into time!'
This is one great session and it's soo cool to hear these sounds on 45 together in a mix.

The Forty Five Kings Present Phil The Mod.
Phil has this to say about his mix:
I've been doing the Mud Music mixes since around 2007.
The idea came when I wanted to try and recreate the sound of my Friday Sessions, so people everywhere could relax along, wherever, whenever.
Back then I had to get a web page set up to stick them on , much easier these days with the likes of Mixcloud .
I started this mix pretty fast as being a 45 special I could get a lot more tracks in.
I'm a big believer in having to get up before getting down so as with all the Muds hopefully you'll be melted into the floor by the end of it.
Really hope you all like it and please keep digging the Mud!

We loved it and you will also.

Sideshow Maule has this to say about his mix:
'As a Scotsman living in Germany I chose to play artists and labels from both countries with a few songs from honorary Scotsman, Andy Taylor (RIP), and one or two songs with tenuous links to both countries.
I hope you enjoy the mix as much as I enjoyed taking part in the live stream'.

The mix was recorded live during our recent 'Forty five Kings – Germany Edition Live Stream on Sunday 16th August 2020.
We know for sure you will enjoy this one and if you do, help spread the word!

'A late night mix that I have put together during lockdown that explores some of the more eclectic 45s in my collection. Crack open a beer, stick your your headphones on, sit back and enjoy. '
That's pretty much what we did when we received this mix and it is with excitement we now share it with you.

Hailing from Cali originally and now a long time Melbourne resident and now Australian Citizen, DJ Obliveus plays an infectious blend of all styles and has held down residencies at every major club night around Melbourne worth mentioning and now hosts a weekly radio show with fellow Forty Five King and good mate Frenzie on Base FM, NZ – The Low End Theory.
The pair started a 45's only label in 2018 called Juke Joints and he has an upcoming release on the 45 Fan Club label with DJ Mexi out of Oregon, USA. He’s also the head responsible for almost all of the donut parties in Melbourne Town, so get in touch if you’re coming down.
For this mix, he decided to run with all the house 45’s he’s accumulated over the years digging through op-shops, garages, school fetes and the odd new release or re-press, just so he could finally fit in the Henry Street Box Set he purchased years ago.

Jim Sharp, a Canadian now based in London has put tougher a mix that is a combination of OG breaks, upfront soul, hip hop, b-boy breaks and exclusive remixes on dubplate.
This mix and the 45 format is why we do what we do! Help us spread the word about the greatest musical format there is, the 45!

Greg Belson’s Origins of Deep Funk – Forty Five Kings Mix – July 2020
The origins of the club night ‘Deep Funk’ were borne out of the coming together of essentially two separate club sessions that evolved in the early 90’s. Keb Darge’s ‘Humpty Dump’ located at the Leisure Lounge in Central London, and Greg Belson’s ‘Urban Soul’ at the Clarence Hotel in Surrey. The two DJ’s started trading ideas of a pivotal session after each had appeared as a guest at the other promoter’s night. The year was 1994 when the direction took shape for both Keb & Greg to work together on an all-encompassing funk event in London Town. Ideas were thrown around, guest DJ’s were talked about and venues discussed….Keb called the night ‘Deep Funk’, Ormonds was the perfect two floor venue to launch our initial concept, and the DJ’s were put in place to carry the night forward.
The inaugural night of ‘Deep Funk’ took flight on 27th January 1995.
These 45’s are just some of the records that made up the backbone of that first session….tracks that already had a grounding at ‘Urban Soul’ and ‘Humpty Dump’….at ‘Deep Funk’ however, they would go on to become classics within our scene.
Some 25 years later, they can be regarded as the ‘Origins of Deep Funk’.

Triple D has this to say about his mix:
'Before I got into Reggae, I collected Hip Hop on 12" in the early 90s. For the last 8 years I have tried to get these Hip Hop 12s on 45s.
Here's a mix of some of my favorite joints together with some new stuff I like!
Once again, enjoy the ride!'.

Last year he grazed us with a superb Reggae throw down and today he steps into his Hip Hop 45 collection and gives us another dope session.
We certainly have enjoyed the ride, now it's your turn to jump on in and glide with Triple D.

The Forty Five Kings are proud to present 2 all round good guys, djs and collectors, straight out of Australia, The Scorcher and Chuan with their 'Antojitos' Reggae mix.
The boys have this to say about their mix:
'Over the last few years The Scorcher and Chuan have been playing Reggae records on Friday nights at Antojitos, a great Mexican restaurant, located in Newcastle, Australia. We generally have a great time hanging out playing records, drinking beer, and eating tacos and burritos. Here's a small sample of the sort of tunes we play. All 45s, some custom made, some original, some old, some new!
This mix and these guys are yet another reason why we love the 45 format and consider it to be the best music format there is. You can feel the passion, imagine their dusty fingers and their utter joy at finding these 45s and playing them for us. Check their pic, those are pretty happy Djs!

The Forty Five Kings Present Atomphunk straight out of Manchester for your listening pleasure!
Atonphunk started out in the mid nineties DJing playing quality house music at the CLEAR parties in warehouses, bars, clubs, forests and beaches in and around Stockport, Manchester and North Wales. This led to many guest DJ slots around the country and residency's in Manchester at respected venues such as Barca and featured mixes on DJ Andy Smiths 'Disco Wonderland' Soho radio show. The Atomphunk DJs also has a specialty in rocking parties playing Hip Hop, Soul and Funk.
Atomphunk has this to say about his mix:
'A blend of soul, funk and hip hop edits and old school joints from artists such as Q Tip, DJ Format, De la Soul and Young Holt Unlimited'.
The Forty Five Kings hold the strong belief that the 45 is the ultimate music format and this mix is another reason why!
Share it wide with pride friends.

Atonphunk started out in the mid nineties DJing playing quality house music at the CLEAR parties in warehouses, bars, clubs, forests and beaches in and around Stockport, Manchester and North Wales. With his brother he moved into production and remixing during the late nineties, making deep house tunes under the Atomphunk guise for labels such as Toko Records, Urbantorque Recordings, 3AM Recordings and Deepfunk Records (USA).

The Forty Five Kings are super excited to present Kid Mince, all the way from Australia!
We have been big fans of the Kid's mixes and his 45s collection for awhile now and it's pretty good to have him as a member of the Forty Five Kings and throwing down this incredibly good mix for us.
Kind Mince has this to say about his mix:
I'm a long time record collector (with a particular thirst for old school hip hop & electro 45’s), part time ageing b-boy, and amateur bedroom DJ.
B-Boy Beat Box Vol. 1” features some classics & some relatively unknown hip hop & electro 45’s from the ‘82 - ‘89 era lovingly and at times roughly cut & mixed in true mid 80’s fashion. Strictly for the ghetto blaster.
We here at the Kings love this mix and if you don't know about us, now you do!
For us the 45 reigns supreme and there is no music format greater and if this mix don't convince seek 'funk' advice immediately.
If you like what you've heard, spread the word....

In this mix the GP does what he does best, plays damn good tunes.

This man is one killer dj and collector and now a Forty Five King!
Leeroy has this to say about his mix:
"A residency of mine and a favourite venue to play is a casual restaurant and bar, it’s a long set which has to go from a laid-back eating vibe to a late-night bar and a great opportunity to genre-hop - There’s no dance-floor but that doesn’t usually stop people from shaking a leg. The venue is called ‘Ojo Rojo’ and ‘Red Eye Special’ is a selection of tunes that I like to spin there, and an attempt to recreate the journey from laid-back to danceable, via classic material and some newer favourites. I hope you enjoy it".
For us, the 45 is the greatest musical format and we continue to highlight its importance in the world of djing and collecting but most of all sharing our love of the format through our mix series.

"Since making a mix last year for The Forty Five Kings, and with the help of the good Dr. Diggns, I have begun to expand out my 45's collection.
This mix for The Forty Five King's starts with Jazz, ends in some Disco with Funk and Soul in between and are some of my favorite 7's now in my collection.
This was so much fun to do again, all live in one take, crackles and pops included!
Hope you enjoy it".

ScottieBoyUk has this to say about his mix:
The 45 Kings Wee Dub Session – all vinyl seven-inch set!
"Wee in Scotland is small – so it’s a Small Dub Session”
Been collection vinyl for over 45 years, no joke bought my first seven in 1972 and my first LP in 1971 but my love of the seven-inch format took hold of me with the tale end of punk in the late 70’s, still got them, still play them, this is where my love of reggae comes from as it was so interlinked with Punk, you could not hide from it, did not want to!”)
Love every moment of these sevens, this is just a small selection of them, put together for the 45 Kings, long may they live!
The Pops & Cracks are free, this is part of this living music.
Thanks

I'm the son of a father who collected 45’s and jukeboxes and a mother with a finer taste in music. Growing up, 45’s were always selected in my home. As a result, a curiosity for genres, labels and record art grew quickly while admiring everyones collections.
I got my first 45 from my sister. My grandad's favorite tune was Desmond Dekker’s Israelites. I would watch my mom and dad dance together to all kinds of music selected by my family. That good feeling of selecting tunes has never gone away and now I have grown quite the collection of my own.
The Studio One label is one I have collected for many years. Here are a few 45’s from the Brenford Road power house known as Studio One. R.I.P Clement “Sir Coxson” Dodd.

With a career spanning 30 years plus, there’s no doubt Marc Hype is a sureshot partyrocker who represents a more ecclectic view on Hip Hop & Funk from the very beginning. He started his DJ career, inspired by the late great Jam Master Jay, around 1988 and went through the several decades of hip hop with countless releases, tours and competitions like the German ITF championships, which he won twice in 98 & 99.
Nowadays he’s travelling the world with his 45s bag as part of the Berlin/London/Hamburg based Dusty Donuts crew & label, as well as a member of the UK based international 45 Live DJ circle. Still spreading the original values of Hip Hop Culture and Crate Digging.

'This live mixtape is a pretty good example of me in ‘full flight’ using our beloved small format. Recorded at a packed GoGo Bar in Melbourne it travels across Funk, Rap, Beats, Soul, Afrobeat, Cumbia, Latin and then lands smoothly in jazzy Hip Hop territory. "I primarily play out on DVS these days and I don’t have a vast 45’s collection by any stretch but am slowly building it up. For this mix I’ve pulled together some of my favourite 45’s from my collection, all original release copies with crackles and all.

The Forty Five Kings are proud to present a dj with deep Reggae crates and a huge love of the 45 format.
Rik Sonic, is a DJ from Sydney, Australia and a lover of the 45 format, particulalry Jamaican sounds and has this to say about his mix:
"45s were always around my house as a kid - my parents had lots of them! I started collecting 2Tone records in the mid 80s, traced those sounds back to their Jamaican origins and have been hooked on the music of that little island ever since. Did much the same when i discovered Hip Hop in the early 90s - traced it back to its Funk, Soul, Jazz roots and started sourcing the original samples, which has since led to all the eclectic music i love and listen to now!"
This mix, this page and The Forty Five Kings are all about the 45 format and for us the 45 reigns supreme, there is no musical format greater!

TommyT has this to say about his mix:
“This mix is a little different from my normal style. I have pulled out a bunch of Hip Hop style instrumental beats all on 7” records, some you’ll know some you might not. No Raps no singing (with a few exceptions) and tried to join them together as best I can for your listening pleasure”.
This mix, this page and The Forty Five Kings are all about the 45 format and for us the 45 reigns supreme, there is no musical format greater!

Sam had this to say about his mix:
33 1/3 45s for the 45Kings Facebook group & Waxnerds.
I always have, and always will be, a crowd pleasing rock the party style DJ when I play out live to a crowd (hey I do it for a living!) so I decided it was about time I put together a mixtape of bone fide sureshot anthems I regularly play out on the 45 format.
Predominantly made up of two of my favourite sets from different Waxnerds events (and not without the mistakes and mistiming that comes from spinning 45s quickly!)
Here is a true representation of a Sam Tweaks party rocking 33 x 45's live!
I will own up that this is take three......

Its got to be said that the 45 is a magical thing, my fav to play out, my fav to collect and my fav to listen to. I get great joy in DJing with my 45’s, it’s always busy and always fun.
DJ Mr Lob asked me to join The Forty Five Kings and then I asked, should do a mix, send one in he said, so here I am, clutching my 45’s with anticipation that you like it.
Many styles covered here and all on original 45!
Thanks.

Paul is located in Fremantle on the West Coast of Australia and he’s been a DJ since his arrival to Australia in 1990 and way before in the UK.
