Séjon - B Sides EP

by Sejon

Currently based in the UK and recognized as a renowned hard working and forward thinking artist, Séjon (aka Chris Jones) is utilizing these qualities towards becoming an established techno producer and DJ.

Spending most of his hours dedicated to producing in the studio, Séjon has also found time to establish and co-manage UK techno imprint Gnosis Records, plus host the increasingly successful ‘Cadencia Podcast’, once a month.

As a DJ, Séjon has played for over ten years at many established techno club nights, including Hi-Tek-Soul and Wonderland at the Ministry Of Sound in London. His distinctive sound has also led to appearances at UK festivals including HI:FI South and Global Gathering. Now embracing a solely digital approach to DJing, Séjon is an avid user of Traktor Pro and Ableton Live. His genius utilization of both platforms in perfect synchronization with a unique choice of MIDI controllers ensures his vast array of loops, tracks and effects are sublimely blended together stylishly on the fly. This approach has enabled him a refined ability to creatively multi-layer sounds on an entirely spontaneous nature, resulting in a thoroughly unique, captivating and defined style. His approach to DJing resulted in Séjon winning the 2011 Mixcloud South West Four DJ competition, and an opportunity to headline the Baby Box for Minus/Plus 8 at the Ministry Of Sound in London.

Séjon’s debut EP, titled ‘Ancillary Artifacts’, was released in August 2012 on Italian label Etichetta Nera and generated support from many artists including Josh Wink, SLAM, Reset Robot and Michel de Hey. This was followed in 2013 by his ‘Choux Bomb EP’, also on Etichetta Nera, plus his highly anticipated track ‘The End’ released on Gnosis Records. With further support from the likes of Ambivalent, Alberto Pascual, Richie Hawtin, DVS1, Anton Pieete and Truncate, Séjon’s stripped back, hypnotic styling continues to gain momentum. Further EPs are already scheduled with Etichetta Nera and Gnosis Records, alongside debut releases on Spark Musik, plus Angel Alanis and Steve Parker’s new label, D-Form, in 2014.

His objective to produce and play consistently acclaimed music, true to a real techno aesthetic, will no doubt form the basis of an interesting future with bright career prospects within the music industry.
