From my series of tunes, 'The Music of the Spheres', a tune inspired by the recent announcement by researchers at the University of Leicester (in November 2016) that Earth’s technosphere now weighs some 30 trillion tons – a mass of more than 50 kilos for every square metre of the Earth’s surface. The number of technofossil ‘species’ now outnumbers the number of living species on planet Earth.

The technosphere (sometimes also referred as the anthroposphere) is that part of the environment that is made or modified by humans for use in human activities and human habitats. The technosphere includes physical human-made structures such as houses, factories, smartphones, computers and landfill.

As human technology becomes more evolved, such as the greater ability of technology to cause deforestation, the impact of human activities on the environment potentially increases. We shouldn't be proud of it.
