The instant that I saw film of Dutch artist Theo Jansen's kinetic sculptures, the Strandbeests, ambulating along a stretch of Dutch beach, I fell head over heels in love with them. This is my musical homage to the walking Strandbeests!

On his Strandbeest website (strandbeest.com/index.php), where you can see video of a selection of these wonderful creations, Jansen explains: "Since 1990 I have been occupied creating new forms of life.

Not pollen or seeds but plastic yellow tubes are used as the basic material of this new nature I make skeletons that are able to walk on the wind, so we don't have to eat.

Over time, the skeletons have become increasingly better at surviving the elements such as storm and water and eventually I want to put these animals out in herds on the beaches so they will live their own lives."

Jansen also explains about his creations in a great TED talk here: ted.com/talks/theo_jansen_crea...s_new_creatures and has his own Youtube channel with lots of amazing examples of his incredible, visionary work: youtube.com/channel/UCw4BFxLFg...guznor-MnYNwGTg
