This episode focuses on the catalogue of Lost Language, the influential trance label founded in 2000 as a sister imprint to Hooj Choons. Across the early 2000s the label developed a reputation for melodic, progressive-leaning trance and became home to a number of records that would go on to define the era.

The mix pulls together key releases from the label’s early years, including tracks from Solarstone, Roland Klinkenberg, Tilt, Goldenscan, Sonorous and Accadia, alongside notable remixes from Armin van Buuren, James Holden, Tiësto and Humate.

Moving between progressive builds, melodic trance and deeper club moments, the set captures the sound that made Lost Language stand out during a hugely creative period for the genre.
This episode of Ruku spins… is dedicated entirely to *Global Underground*’s modern vinyl output, focusing on recent progressive house releases across the *Adapt*, *Unique*, *Select* and *Afterhours* series.

Rather than looking back, this mix highlights how the label continues to support long-form, club-ready records built for progression and flow.

Expect melodic tension from artists like **Eli & Fur**, **Tinlicker** and **Cubicolor**, deeper after-hours energy from **Eelke Kleijn**, **ARTBAT** and **Ivory**, and stripped-back grooves from **Einmusik**, **Solee** and **Markus Homm** — all mixed patiently and with space to breathe.

No edits, no reworks — just contemporary *Global Underground* records, played as intended and mixed the long way.
The third and final part of 2005 Cuts completes a three-episode look back at trance music released on vinyl in 2005. A year when the sound had reached a rare moment of breadth and confidence.

This episode moves across the deeper and more atmospheric end of the spectrum through Anjunabeats mainstays like P.O.S., Tranquility Base and Kaste, before shifting into tougher, more driving territory via Discover and High Contrast with artists such as John O’Callaghan and Dogzilla.

Along the way, there are reminders of how expansive the scene was at the time, from melodic long-form builders to tracks designed purely for momentum.

Across the full series, 2005 Cuts captures a moment where trance could comfortably hold progressive, uplifting and tech-leaning styles side by side, just before those strands began to diverge.

Recorded at home, mixed on vinyl, and revisited twenty years later, this final chapter closes with one of the most recognisable trance records ever released.

Episode 23 continues the 2005 Cuts series, focusing on the melodic and uplifting side of mid-2000s trance.

This mix pulls together records from a year when the sound had reached a confident maturity. Long arrangements, strong melodic identities, and producers working at the height of their creative momentum.

Artists like Ronski Speed, L.S.G., The Thrillseekers, Ferry Corsten, Lange and M.I.K.E. were shaping a scene that valued progression over impact, with tracks designed for vinyl, for the blend, and for extended play.

Featuring releases from labels such as Euphonic, Joof, Armada, Adjusted and High Contrast, every track in this episode was originally released in 2005 and revisited here twenty years later, mixed at home on turntables.

Part of an ongoing series looking back at specific years through vinyl-only selections, 2005 Cuts continues with more episodes exploring different corners of the same era.

This first part focuses on the melodic, progressive edge of mid-2000s trance and house... long blends, patient arrangements, and tracks designed to evolve rather than rush. Recorded at home, played on turntables, and mixed with the same intent they were originally written for.
Expect massive builds, pure analog sound, and a slightly cynical British voice or two.

If you’ve been craving a seamless journey through trance and progressive — the kind of set that starts by quietly taking you by the hand and, before you know it, has led you somewhere utterly euphoric — this is the one.

Over the next two hours, expect a curated selection of shimmering melodies, hypnotic grooves, and the occasional early-2000s gem that will make you say, *“Wait… I definitely remember this from somewhere… right?”* Yes. You do. And yes, we’re leaning into it. Because nostalgia isn’t a guilty pleasure — it’s a perfectly valid excuse to grin like an idiot while a bassline loops in your head for the next three days.

From deep, progressive builds to soaring trance classics, this mix moves at its own pace — steady, confident, and never in a rush to get anywhere, because the journey is the destination. Along the way, you’ll encounter tracks from **Solarstone**, **The Thrillseekers**, **Ferry Corsten**, and yes… eventually, *Deepest Blue*. And when that moment comes, you’ll know.

Back again for a wrap up of some remakes and remixes of classic tracks in the progressive house and trance genres that were released in 2023. The rule is basically that it can't be a remix of a tune released only a year or two ago, i.e. something considered being a 'recent' release, though this year we did have an exception, mainly because the original didn't fit into the stated usual genres so felt it was okay to make the cut. Our original source material thus technically spans of songs written from 1936 to 2020. However I found when going through and adding their original release dates which you shall see in the square brackets that many of them did fall around that 2000 period (back when music was good).

This year the upload is a bit later, but it comes in 2 parts!

I've found there is a bit of a trend of remixes being released of older trance tunes that came into existance around the 138bpm mark being remade and slowed down to around the mid 120's, and they are really well done. So much so the mix needs the space for these and I always start here, to the detriment of the 140 bangers as I usually run out of steam to get to that point.

This year however, I did not. Part 2 cranks it up there pretty quickly and maintains the high tempo, and considering the other trend of a bit of hard trance and dare I say even a donk sound being popular the heights hit 145bpm a couple of times in the mix, so there's a bit in there for everyone as it works it's way up over the course of 5 and a half hours total.

So that's it, this upload comes with the mixes split in two parts, but I do have a bridging mix to make the whole thing one long mega-effort so might get around to posting that and a cuesheet too, but for now enjoy the 99 songs included into the tracklists below!
Episode 8 is here! Some more trance for your ears, reverberating off some little analogue groove cuts and amplified up for you to listen to (and yes then digitally captured...).

There are a few choice tunes amongst this bunch, including a few more recent songs I've managed to snag that have been released on wax.

In this one over the next hour and a half, expect artists like Neal Scarborough who shows up for a few tracks, supported by some DuMonde, Signum and more!
Back for episode 4 of my vinyl only 'show' Ruku spins, and it's a selection of tunes from one of many discogs orders I received in the mail.

About an hour long mix of trance from the late 90's early 00's from artists such as Armin van Buuren, Ayu and Allure, to start with just the 'A's.

Enjoy!

Episode two is here, and it's actually a pre-pandemic mix from New Year's Eve at the end of 2019 heading into 2020. Not exactly a planned one, but it's a nice mix of trance with some tunes from Markus Schulz, Way Out West, Trancesetters and Interstate.

Feedback (or requests!) are always welcome.
Welcome to the first episode of my new vinyl only series, called 'Ruku spins...' where I choose a selection of tunes from my ever growing wax collection to throw into a mix and record. So don't expect it to be perfect!

Could not go past playing a selection of very special bootlegs for the first edition from none other than Trance Wax, so please enjoy this new series of mixes and hope you come back for more!
Feedback (or requests!) are always welcome.
