Early this year, I stood at the shore of the Mediterranean Sea for the first time in my life. Not having seen the sea for thirty years, it was an impressive experience: the noises, the colours, the smells and the ever-changing rhythm of the waves.

All of this reminded me of my fascination with the Ancient Greek mythology, as I encountered it in my Latin lessons in school. So I dug out this Homeric Hymn to Poseidon, god of the sea, of earthquakes and horses.
