I’ve been writing melodies and lyrics earlier in the process than I’m really used to. Normally I sit at the mic and write and record everything at once. Lately I’ve been writing a melody with a piano track, then writing lyrics that fit, and then singing. The first time I sing is still while sitting in front of the mic. What’s the downside? When I come up with something like this that calls for soft and quiet, but the melody I want to use is too high for me to sing quietly. Oh well.

Another pitfall (pratfall) is when I am writing the rhythm guitar parts and plan to use the same part for two different things. By that I mean a verse and a bridge (for example) will have the same music but a different melody. Unfortunately, I don’t write that plan down and then when I start working on melody I forget and everything gets weird. That happened with this song. I had to do some cutting and pasting with the guitars in order to fix an arrangement mistake. Oh well.

I used to be okay
I used to have a say
Why must it be this way
Why must it be

I’ve become the bad guy
where did I go wrong
(repeat)

The guitars are all Les Paul into Bassbreaker 15 with no pedals, like some kinda savage.
