Insurrection is a monthly event founded by the need to dance. We honour the joys of dusty vinyl grooves. You have found a place to boogie! Insurrection brings together Shrewsbury’s vinyl rats together to celebrate everything from disco, soul, Funk, reggae and everything in-between curated from the underground. For the artists and creative who congregate, Insurrection is a chance to go back to the time when records were events, the DJ were on the pulpit and the dance floor was epic.
Insurrection incubates creative collaboration. It brings together a network of like-minded sisters and brother to collective inspiration. Music lovers finding their meetinghouse at the Pour House. Insurrection will inspire the masses to rise up with funk, soul, disco, house, reggae, and salsa to build a better day for the many not the few, The genre doesn’t define the party; the people are the real curators on the turntables, in the conversations, on the dance floor and in our minds You will hear the rarest of grooves followed by classic dance floor burners. Insurrections DJs take the party back to an era when DJs dug a little deeper. The artistic directors of the party at Insurrection each have a treasure trove of tunes that has special significance to their DJ journey.
With the recent resurgence of vinyl and a growing interest in playing records in clubs proves the power of the groove.
We take our inspiration from Studio 54, Wigan Casino, Norman Jay, Giles Peterson, The Hacienda, Larry Levan, The Loft, Paradise Garage and the Revolution!
