1.0 rich hearthis.at https://hearthis.at 150 100% The SATTYA MEDIA ARTS COLLECTIVE is an independent art and media collective based in Lalitpur that carries out activities in the surrounding urban spaces as well as throughout whole Nepal. Its projects combine artistic expression with media work and they open space for creative collaboration, social exchange, and new perspectives. The focus is on local stories, cultural diversity, and engaging with current issues through contemporary art and media. One of the most outstanding projects was undoubtedly KOLOR KATHMANDU, which ran from 2012 until its conclusion in August 2013, during which a total of 75 murals were created in Kathmandu and Lalitpur, corresponding to Nepal’s 75 districts. 60 artists participated, including 38 Nepali and 22 international artists. Many of these fantastic works still stand today. In an interview we spoke with founder and director ANYA VAVERKO about the origins of SATTYA, the evolution of the collective, and its countless projects.
