There's something there. Something in the background that I can't quite make it out. It's been there for days, just out of reach. Fleeting and darting. I can't quite focus. I sense it; following me... an inconsiderate something; Sickening and woeful.

So I wait. I wait resigned, I watch and gulp Looking over my shoulder, looking all around. through slitted eyes, I struggle to make out a form, its form. There's depth, height and breadth and as I look, take notice, they disperse wide and vanish to nothing. I see a shadow; an atrocious shadow that slithers along. I can't see what I feel. It feels strong. Face it, I tell myself. Face It. The glimpse of an angry eye, maybe? A staring pointed eye, a hollow circle that... that is a mouth of decaying teeth? Thoughts undermine me while I silently curse its haggard loose decaying corrupted form. It oozes cruel, malicious guilt while I feel an abysmal distress; I am worthlessly pained with disgust. Hard-hearted and filthy, I weaken. Like me, it too watches and waits. Wary and hurtful, it undermines me. Take me in your arms. Me and it spinning and twirling through pirouettes. My gruesome dishevelled call is you. That wicked dismal breath, frightful and haggard that jealous grave, we are. We are. We be.

Languid she lay, on the kelp now a drying.
Ashore on the sandbank, her fate there was waiting.
Once soft salty-scales, now brittle and weathered,
Sintered dry eyes, half-closed and tethered.
Where dost thou go for escape.

The sunset, the glimmer, a long-ago time,
salt-bleached and wanting, her aspect sublime.
Shriveled and wrinkled from the rip of the wave,
no solace there, as her pale lips did fade.
Where dost thou go for escape.

Through tears on the sand, she awoke; his arrival.
They spoke with their minds, of their love, it's survival
Of past times explaining the flow of the whole,
did her voice without words stressing feelings of woe.
For her there was no escape.

In sacking he wrapped her, sea water he pored,
carried the bundle from shipwreck to shore.
Her begging demeanor pulled him tight with care,
she breathing no gasps of the fresh cool clean air.
Where do they go for escape.

An aspect of wonder her eyes did relate,
a tale of the deep seas, of troubles and hate.
She told of the reef and the seamen who drowned,
of how they became cursed by the charm of her sound.
For them there was no escape.

The waves that were summoned tipped ships and their crew,
down to the depths of the dark blacky-blue.
Where huge pearls are kept by the king of the water,
the sailor he swam to the kings only daughter.
For them there was no escape.
The palace, he entered in search of his prize,
courtiers awaiting, all turned their dark eyes.
The mermaid for marriage, her hand he did crave,
the dowry his soul and a watery grave.
For her there was no escape.
The mermaid imprisoned, she quietly wept,
asleep on the sand, his heart still and kept.
She wanted to take him far from the sea,

Taken from the Doxa album: https://pytchblend.bandcamp.com/album/doxa-this-is-ethercore-vol-1

His hand was hard and dry, and with a sort of innocent enthusiasm, her red mouth stretched. Jolly well.
The handle of his sheath knife. Whacked, doped.
With a mouthful of saliva, he put down his coffee. Drunk; shouting and cursing. A long experience.
‘Someone will make trouble; I would have made trouble.’
Was it time to change the subject?
Being unhappy, the warmth of being right.
Wide.
She switched on the phone, shook her head.

It might as well been a different planet, walking towards the gate, she frowned. Was she hungry? ‘Perhaps we should go.’ The telephone rang.
She drank and began to cry; dangerous.
On the door, poisoned even, the hiss of an individual breath, miles away. A dangerous business; he stopped breathing. List the tasks.
Sitting by the window, you love him.

A shadow on your face.
‘You should go.’
His voice was soft, tentative, (well brought up), and this British girl with her honourable scars; her face might have softened, but that was off-limits, it was quiet, horribly quiet. Caught his eye.
‘Careful with yourself.’

He doubled up. Her skirt was splashed with fresh blood, the air was dirty.
‘Be careful, take your shoes off. Truth or self-delusion, your eyes are unreadable. Wanted to see you.’
He picked up the receiver, the wooden face; it was too dangerous. Big shining, a cloth black face, and the black grease, the black grease and the yellow ochre, he passed out. And the telephone rang.

His face turned slack with horror. He felt the pressure.
Despite her protest, the telephone twittered in his pocket and the yellow glare.
His feet seemed to vanish.

‘Turn the radio off, get out of the way.’
It was the beginnings of confidence, and swiftly down the stairs, realising with a shrinking heart that he'd forgotten about the telephone, the salty wind, the incoherent mass and inside came the odd moaning. A huge grey wave of a spidery black figure lost it tremor and went completely quiet. And leaning against the windows for support he could feel the warmth of her beside him.

We're trying not to drown in the ugly noises. And the luminous noise, the huge numbing pain he tried to shout.
‘Please! Nothing to do with blood.’
‘It could be good to have somebody waiting for you.’
She scrutinized his face.
‘Where were you?’

One drop of blood.
There was a short silence. Facing an uphill struggle, questions about his decision, it was too deeply instilled. I stepped forwards, I pulled together the stands, still half hoping. I had a fleeting memory of a long time ago, a sound of footsteps in the hall, and I glanced from on to the other...

</googleplay:description>
