When you compose, you do not have any set concept in mind or do you just experiment?

DIMITRIS: Always, in the meanwhile of the working process, I imagine an idea, a theme for a whole project, not just for a track. The music, I want always to be, like the soundtrack of the theme I have in my mind and I'm trying to put through, exactly the same atmosphere and give to the listener, the same taste with words and sounds (with words i mean, the titles and with sounds, the tracks of the project). The creation of sounds, I have to say, that always, is an experiment of improvisation. It is a bet with myself versus my auditory senses and preferences of the moment, that always leads me somewhere, I want to arrive. Always is a journey of sounds and frequencies, that becoming colors and pictures and then words and phrases, that create, the main idea of the whole project.

Which analogue/digital gear is your favorite?

DIMITRIS: I don't want to talk about any synthesizer, keyboard, drum machine or groove box. Any instrument and its use and value for any artist is subjective.
I would like to commend and exalt on the most precious weapon I have for my work, a real partner on my every production. This is Ableton Live, a powerful and versatile piece of software, is unlike any other DAW, is one of the most unique music studio software applications from its recording and production capabilities to its overall interface and design, you can use it for much more than just recording audio, which makes it, a must, for not only studio, but also live settings.

You have created two aliases Corvum and Thus ended, there has to be reason for that?

D.: Corvum is my darkest inner need of creation. As Corvum I produce always without thinking about genres and styles. What I feel reflected on my sound, every time something different. Sometimes like a story, thrill, myth, fiction, tale, novel, or even a nightmare. Any track or project is hypnotic, deep, dark and majestic from the sound and atmosphere till the titles of any track and the whole releases. By the same way of philosophy of thinking and acting also to every Corvum's mixes and DJ sets. Thus Ended is my newest studio only and exclusivity on Anemone Recordings until now alias. As Thus Ended I express myself in a way more cinematographic and theatrical. The sound is deep, mysterious and the whole background is an odd reality under a philosophical approach.

Where do you find the inspiration to compose music?

D.: As I have studied, involved and have heard a lot of music in my life I have acquired a lot of experience in a musical level. Except music, with everything I have ever read that has affected and formed me, created in me such a certain point of view and way of thinking. All that experience and education is the 50% of my inspiration. The rest 50% comes by the sentiments of or prompted by feelings of tenderness, sadness, or nostalgia.

What advice would you give for upcoming producers?

D.: Educate yourself on music, on analog and digital gear, on software and DAWs, on studio technology. Listen to a lot of music. Place yourself in a genre and philosophy of the electronic music industry. Find your sound and create your own. Everything you do, do it with trueness, love and passion.

What is techno to you personally ?

D.: Techno comes from the word technology, so has to be innovative, has to be the pioneer of the music industry, has to be odd, new, unusual, left-field, avant garde and experimental, facing the future as a leader of global clubbing culture industry and society. As Jeff Mills said: ''Techno wasn't designed to be dance music, it was designed to be a futurist statement. This music isn't for followers, it's for innovators, it's truly the music of the future, it has no boundaries, no structures and it can go as fast as time goes. Techno is everything you haven't imagined yet''.
