The Snow Spirit appears on snowy nights as a tall, beautiful horse with long white hair and tail and with no eyes. Its pale even transparent skin makes it blend into the snowy landscape. It floats across the snow, leaving no footprints (some tales say it has no feet as many Japanese ghosts) and it can transform into mist or snow if threatened.
In many stories, The Snow Spirit appears to travelers trapped in snowstorms and uses its icy breath to leave them as frost-coated corpses. Other legends say it leads them astray so they simply die of exposure.
Like the winter and snow it represents, The Snow Spirit has a hard side and a softer one. It sometimes lets would-be victims go for various reasons. In one popular legend, it sets a young girl free because of her long hair and one other time it didn't kill a young boy because of his innocence.

According to folktales, the lake used to be inhabited by dragon-girls who being jealous and fought each other by throwing pines and rocks and thus created the peculiar landscape and gave their name to the lake.
These dragon-girls still live nowadays, but to their survival they had to be transformed by nature to microscopic alpine tritons. According to locals, those female tritons sing at nights when male dreamers travel so far to see them.
This is a live recorder soundtrack on a night like this.
