[Painting](https://paintona.com/collections/adults-paint-by-numbers) a spaceship mural for your child's room may seem like an impossible task, but it is actually quite simple. Here is my tutorial on painting a spaceship mural.
Step 1 for painting a spaceship mural: Preparation:

The first thing you need to do is clean the walls and let them dry. Using a scraper, remove any loose paint chips from the wall, and fill in nail holes and cracks with putty. When the repairs are done and dried, paint the walls in your background color or the color that will be used the most in the mural.

Step 2 for painting a spaceship mural: Materials:

You will need:

~A drop cloth or two, get enough to cover the entire floor area, do not try moving one-drop cloth around, inevitably paint will be spilled where the floor is not covered.

~Paintbrushes get several different sizes and types. I like to use sponge brushes and a small detail brush.

~Acrylic paints in the colors you need

~Masking tape: to help you make straight lines and avoid getting paint on the baseboards

~Pencils: to draw your design

~Erasers: to remove pencil markings

~Water: to clean away mistakes and clean brushes

~Sponges: to clean mistakes and apply paint textures

Step 3 for painting a spaceship mural: Using the tutorial video, draw the simple shapes of the spaceship. It consists of a large football shape, and a series of ovals.

Step 4 for painting a spaceship mural: Draw the background of the mural, which consists of a series of swirls at the bottom to indicate smoke and wavy lines at the top.

Step 5 for painting a spaceship mural: Starting at the bottom of the painting add your lightest background color. I used an aquamarine blue. Paint the smoke details at the bottom of the image. Next add the next color, which should be slightly darker, you will see I used a medium colored blue. Use the second color to paint the section below the lowest wavy line, and use the blue color to add details to the first section you painted. Continue in this manner using a darker color blue for each higher section, and using that same color as an accent to detail the lower portions. This will give the painting a more professional and balanced look.

Step 6 for painting a spaceship mural: Paint the spaceship in a bright color. I used yellow. I also added yellow marks back through the painting to give the image the appearance of movement.

Step 7 for painting a spaceship mural: I cut a sponge into a sponge shaped and dipped it in yellow paint to make stars. I smoothed out the stars with a small paintbrush.

Step 8 for painting a spaceship mural: Add another bright color for the final detail on the ship. I used red. I used the red color for the final details on the painting.

See how easy that was? Now go try it yourself!
