With this track I kind of failed in what I wanted to achieve, which was a slow backwards shattering of the sample. Kind of how I imagine a slow motion video of glass shattering – but in sound. Unfortunately my lack of technical knowledge held me back on achieving this.

What I did do is create a bunch of midi clips in Ableton with each sample/clip having a different start point and loop length. I then used follow-actions to randomize the play back order and added other effects. I did 3 groups of midi clips like this, with the first group having very short time-frame follow-actions, and the 2nd and 3rd groups of midi clips having slightly longer playback length. I did this for 3 different tracks. The beats were played in by hand using Maschine.

What was a success for me is getting something done I’m reasonably happy with in 3 days. Thanks Disquiet!!
