Und Gott brachte mich, Kraft der Gedanken auf einen Berg... Und da sah ich sie, die heilige Stadt, Stadt der 12 Tore...Stadt des Himmels...Die heilige Stadt Jerusalem, die von Gott aus dem Himmel nieder kam, sie hatte eine große und hohe Mauer und hatte zwölf Tore und an den Toren zwölf Engel und Namen waren darauf geschrieben, welche die zwölf Stämme der Söhne Israels sind. Von Osten waren es drei Tore, von Norden waren es drei Tore, von Süden waren es drei Tore und von Westen waren es drei! Die Mauer der Stadt hatte zwölf Grundsteine und darauf die zwölf Namen der Apostel des Lammes! Und die Stadt liegt im Viereck und ihre Länge ist so groß wie hre Breite; zwölftausend Stadien maß sie, in der Länge und der Breite gleich! Die Mauer maß hundertvierundvierzig Ellen, nach Menschenmaß, das zugleich Engelsmaß ist! Nun war der Bau ihrer Mauer Jaspis und die Stadt war lauteres Gold, gleich klarem Glas. Der Schmuck, in den Grundlagen der Mauer, waren Jaspis, Saphir und chalzedon und Smaragd und Sardonyx, die sechste Sardion, die siebte, Chrysolith, die achte Beryll, die neunte Topaz, die zehnte Chrysopras, die elfte Hyazinth und die zwölfte Amethyst. Und die Stadt liegt im Viereck und ihre Länge ist so groß wie hre Breite; zwölftausend Stadien maß sie, in der Länge und der Breite gleich! Die Mauer maß hundertvierundvierzig Ellen, nach Menschenmaß, das zugleich Engelsmaß ist! Nun war der Bau ihrer Mauer Jaspis und die Stadt war lauteres Gold, gleich klarem Glas.
