#Kellam (Faceless Recordings | Dilate Recordings | Keep Moving Records - NYC)

Kelly Kellam, a.k.a. Kellam, first got involved with dance music in New York City where he quickly became a fixture in the underground dance music scene and has rapidly gained acclaim internationally. He has most recently taken a role in Thailand at the W Retreat Koh Samui as the W Music Curator and resident DJ where he is programming the events there for 2015 in addition to regular tour dates. He also founded and curates Access Underground in 2015, a mix series on Mixcloud that has already received acclaim and had listeners listen to over five million minutes on this channel. A great success being that it launched in June 2015.

NG Interview with Kellam:

  1. Which places would you recommend in nyc for a great afterwork or nice dinner? Your top 3?
A few of my favorite places in the city are Employees Only, Cafe Mogador and Fat Cat.
Employees Only has some of the best cocktails in the country, wonderful ambiance, and INCREDIBLE food. The place is always full and the staff is always wonderfully friendly…
Cafe Mogador has some of the best mediterranean food and super affordable prices, is located in east village and one in Williamsburg. Food is incredibly fresh and has never been less than 5 stars for me.
Fat Cat is a kick ass hang out spot in the west village in a large underground space… It has a super random but welcome mix mash of people from bohemians, to bankers, to doctors and bankers to artists and hipsters. The place has a wide assortment of pool tables, shuffle board, ping pong, and different live jazz bands and some times salsa bands every night of the week.

  2. What are the 3 best tracks you discovered recently?
Tale of the Oblivious Llama - Gabriel Ananda
Tears of a Schizophrenic Guy - Rub a Dub
Calendula (Dubspeeka Remix) - Ryan Davis, Microtrauma

  3. What is your favorite dish or recipe?
Favorite dish? Food is like music… Different foods and different dishes for different moods!
In the morning I love something as simple as Eggs and Buttered toast with Juice.
For Dinner I loved a thick delicious perfectly cooked ribeye steak, Salad w/avacado & balsamic vinaigrette (and a splash of Truffle oil) and maybe some stuff peppers
Or a Big dish of fettucini alfredo w/Grilled Chicken
And dark/salty chocolate for desert is always a win.

  4. Tell us about your latest electro party, did you have a blast?
This last weekend I DJ’d a great burning man party in the city (NYC), Kostume Kult Horned Ball, which had a great crowd of 1000+ plus people all wearing ridiculous costumes, the vibe was amazing, the sound system was on point and everyone had such a great time… in fact I was one of the main DJs, and it is where I recorded this mix live…
Then, a bit after my set ended I cruised over to the CITYFOX party in Brooklyn where several of my friends were also playing, and that was another EPIC warehouse party… two floors 4 rooms, HUGE perfectly tuned sound, visuals, and a DJ lineup that made it seem like a festival, including Lee Burridge, Jon Charnis, Cassy, Job Jobse, Justin Marchacos.
Thats New York City for ya, two incredible parties to choose on the same night… The music scene here is really on fire at the moment.

  5. Which Djs you have seen recently and surprised you - in a good way ?
Justin Marchacos. He does all original production and plays live. 2 years ago he has never played anywhere…This last weekend I say him CRUSHING the main stage with 1.5hour live show just before Lee Burridge. Such excellent production, but more importantly, a wonderful musical flow and great job controlling and directing the vibe with his music. He is one to look out for…Incredible talent.
