DD14071 Sidephex - War On Demand

by Noisj

Written & produced by W.Vonk
Magnetic Therapy written & produced by W.Vonk and S.Barends
Solitary Confinement mixed by B.Kok
Mastering by Musicmastering.nl

Following hot on the heels of the success comeback album „Reinstated“, Wouter Vonk supplies some fierce war on demand, attacking your auditory cortex aggressively. Notably rougher than “Reinstated”, this also conveniently includes four classic Sidephex tracks that have appeared on Industrial Shock releases between 2004 and 2009. Edgy industrial techno adjacent to hardcore, this will surely leave some scorched earth.

Raw and abrasive, the 14 tracks of “War On Demand” truly live up to the album title’s implication, with bulging beats and kicks and an unsettling omnipresence of noise and feedback. Lots of production tricks keep the attention level at maximum, like the slight EBM-reference of “Kalium” or the ground-shattering bass line of “Magnetic Therapy”. A definite influence of rhythm noise can be detected in a lot of tracks (“War on Demand”), as well as sheer experimental bravery (“Moodsweeper”). This album is a hypnotically pounding, dexterously produced and sonically demanding beast with the older tracks seamlessly blending in; throughout its runtime the tempo increases, inevitably moving towards hardcore-minded tracks like “Solitary Confinement” (a fixture in The Relic’s DJ sets) and “Bloody Hands”.

If you so choose to purchase “War on Demand” bandcamp, you will also get two exclusive bonus tracks, the slightly out-of-line-sublime “Teleport” and the hard topper “What Kind of Bastard”.
