original song, recorded as an assignment!

special thanks to:

  • Darren Toh (soundcloud.com/demonerrad) for electric guitar, and putting up with my general incompetence pretty much all the time
  • Deanna (soundcloud.com/cgndyaan) for vocals, specifically agreeing to help out when she only just kinda happened to be there and was probably in gastric pain and still sang this pretty-hard-to-sing song
  • Bong (youtube.com/B0ngggggggggg) for what could have been bass, but was ultimately just me screwing shit up and being kind of a shit. sorry dude!

this song originally came about in pieces; the chord progression had been written down and stuffed somewhere, i only had the first verse's lyrics down as a seed of a concept, and i had a narrative idea somewhere in my head. i guess in a rush to complete this assignment i just kind of mashed all those things together, and while it's very far removed from my original vision it's definitely not something i will immediately disregard. that being said, i can do better, and will work towards redoing most of this under less constraints. the lyrics are embarrassingly bad but whatever

i won't explain the concept or narrative here and now, hopefully those are to be expanded upon in future tracks (thus the suffix "catalyst", as this was the seed of quite a few other ideas i have right now), maybe to be collected into a concept EP of sorts. the narrative doesn't even make a lot of sense anyway. we'll see.

Lyrics:

the morning sun refuses to wait
chasing after time, the love that fades
the waves of desire beckon to me
under illusion, the world that shades

gray sky, black sun
world in disarray
order in chaos
the harmonies say

la la la...

the coiled snake rises up the back
wisdom of stars, energy of suns
elevation of consciousness
disillusioned, shading gaia's sons

red sky, blue sun
deity of lies
chaos in order
the noises say

la la la...

rise up
above
ascend
mother

la la la...
