<googleplay:description><![CDATA[Carlos Nilmmns is the alias of Ross McMillan, a UK producer and DJ now based in France. A fondness for the USA sound of Detroit, Chicago and New York electronic music. He is renowned for his signature sound of highly acclaimed concept mini albums on the Berlin imprint Ornaments. He also has many notable releases on classic electronic labels like Cocoon, Trax Records, KMS, Planet-e Communications, and last but no means least Dopewax.
Ross has dedicated his life to electronic music since the late 90s where he began amassing a huge music collection. During this time he met fellow Scottish artist Vince Watson (Planet E, Cocoon) who taught the basics around the studio and offered advice on studio equipment. Since the 90s Ross has held 2 DJ residencies, performed in Orchestras, funk bands, and indie bands and had a string of records which later gain the attention of Sub Club resident Domenic. Many artist helped mentor Ross from Dj Harri and the mentioned Domenic Cappello, Graham Wilson (Solab and Seventh Sign Recordings), and Ian Elgey and Derek Reaper.
When the Sub Club returned to its rightful home on Jamaica Street in 2006 and opened its’ doors it immediately reignited Glasgow electronic music scene and became the perfect place to be for Ross for the next tens years. The perfect club to learn about the art of deejaying and how great music can translate on a large solid system. Week in week out this new world of inspiration curated by different residents and international guests helped elevate the level of quality in Ross. Soon the production and releases began to pick up the pace and joined forces with 7th Sign label owner Graham Wilson. The first notable release was titled Shift as Solab with Graham Wilson which featured a remix by artist Alex Smoke ( Soma Records ), Soon new doors began to open and solo projects lead to invitations from clubs, festivals, and labels all around the world marking the true beginning of the Carlos Nilmmns alias.
The sound of each Carlos Nilmmns record always aims to be consistent but is often unpredictable…
“give them what they want but what they least expect”
…still rings true today as it did back in the day for a record of a DJ set.
Today Nilmmns is a name that often pops up often on records with some of the most respected artists and labels in electronic music. These include some Grammy-nominated and winning artists and some pioneers of the house and techno movements in the USA including Kenny Dope (Masters At Work), Niko Marks & Carl Craig, DJ Rolando, Davina Bussey , Kevin Saunderson (Detroit band Inner City), Santiago Salazar (Galaxy 2 Galaxy , UR), DJ Andrés ( Mahogani Music), Trax Records and Chicago vocalist Keter Darker to name a modest few.]]></googleplay:description>
