A monthly series dedicated to deep, dark and driving modern techno. Staying far away from minimal but not quite reaching the levels of hardcore or industrial.

A year ago I started to search for a new musical direction after a misspent youth listening to euro trance. A certain type of dark and driving techno sound started to emerge. While the direction is constantly being refined, a definite thread has been found. This Year One mix takes select tracks from the past 12 episodes along with many new releases. When previewing music all these works instantly got the reaction from me: "This is Noir material." Whether relentless drive from Broken, Day By Day or Sintess to deeper underground of Gossip, Aerian Columns or Acid City. Here's to a another year on the dark side of the streets in Helsinki.
