If you have never been blessed to hear the vocal mastery of the songstress Maysa Leak, I would like to give you that blessing today. Maysa Leak is simply one of my very, very favorite female vocalists. I liken her to a mixture of the late, great Phyllis Hyman, the late Sarah Vaughn, a mix of Chaka Khan with some Anita Baker’s jazzy soul all mixed up with her own signature stylings and vocal delivery. Born and raised in Baltimore, MD, Maysa Leak knew early on that she would be a musician. "I was six years old when my mom took me to see Purlie," she recalls. "When Melba Moore came on stage and sang her heart out, I knew at that moment I wanted to make people feel the way she made me feel."

Maysa's journey took her from singing upon graduation with Stevie Wonder for a year to becoming the lead singer for the British Funk Band Incognito in the 90s. In 1995 she recorded her first solo album.”MAYSA” which debuted to rave reviews from critics and listeners alike. 28 years later, 14 studio releases and world wide respect and acclaim Maysa is simply synonymous with Jazz and smoothed out soulful and sensual soul.

Soooooo, for the first 2 hours of this ear candy experience we explore her early work with Incognito. Then hours 3-6 we get into her smooth offering and soul covers and remakes. Maysa has the very unique ability of remaking classic songs and making it her own. Again, I call her the modern day Phyllis Hyman, I think you will agree.
