Da Diamond is blessed to be able to bring to you another Mic Klub episode belovedz. Today’s experience is one I’ve been wanting to do for quite some time. I believe the 90’s to be the pinnacle of Hip Hop culture and there were sooooo many great individuals and groups to choose from. Aside from lyrical excellence beats knocked from N.Y. to Cali from every house, boombox and jeep. From the East Coast the groups EPMD and Lost Boyz had some of the most infectious beats and rhymes to knock on your block.

EPMD were from Brentwood, N.Y. The group's name is a concatenation of the 2 members names Erick Sermon ("E" a.k.a. E Double) and Parrish Smith("PMD" a.k.a. Parrish Mic Doc). Collectively they became "E" and "PMD" for "Erick and Parrish Making Dollars" EPMD. EPMD were the one of the first Hip Hop groups to use sampling of old soul records behind their Hip Hop songs calling it "Hip Hop Funk". EPMD were one of the coldest groups to do it in the 90's.

From South Jamaica Queens N.Y. The Lost Boyz were a Hip Hop group banging thangs in the “Killa Queens” district, which was famous for Nas, L.L. Cool J. Capone N Noreaga and an up and comer name 50 cent fame. The original group members were lead by the voice of the group Mr. Cheeks, backup MC and promoter Freaky Tah ( who passed early (1971–1999), DJ Spigg Nice and Pretty Lou . The Boyz’ brought fun, beats and funk to the Hip Hop game and to this day are one of my favorite groups for their style of rhyming.

Sooooo, that said, I bring to you the Party and Business experience featuring 2 of my fav groups from the 90’s. I bring to the Black Diamond Mic Klub stage EPMD and The Lost Boyz. Strap your Tim’s up and turn the sounds in the jeep on max…we bout’ to have a funk party N.Y. style. Let’s work!!!
