Mohammad Gholami is a current graduate student of the Russ College of Engineering and Technology at Ohio University and guest performer in the Mozaïque family on the daf and setar. He started playing the Daf (a Persian frame drum) in 2006 under the supervision of Maestro Gholamreza Gorgin. He joined Andalib Daf Players in Iran one year later and performed in several concerts between 2007-13. Both a musician and a scholar, Mohammad collected the writings of Maestro Gholamreza Gorgin and designed the book titled “the New Method of Playing the Daf” (in press), to be used for elementary to advanced players.

He started playing the setar (a traditional Persian stringed instrument) in 2011 under the supervision of K.Sandoghsaz. A year later under the supervision of A.Amirsamimi, he began learning the Radif, the traditional repertoire of the classical music of Iran that forms the essence of Persian musical culture. He had several performances at Shiraz University and was one of the soloists of Shiraz University Music ‌Band. He has won a number of awards for music performance in Iran, and served as the Vice President of the Central Council of Shiraz University Music Association. Here in Athens, he is the Cultural Coordinator of the Iranian (Persian) Students Society of Ohio University.
