Hallelujah (Alexandra Burke) - A Christmas duet with Marina Kraus

Hallelujah is a song by the Canadian singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen. It was released on the album Various Positions in 1984. There are numerous cover versions of other musicians that have been used in many movies and TV series. The text of the original version of Various Positions begins with references to King David from the Old Testament. The melody of the song is associated with another one, which he played on the harp for God. A special feature of the song is that it refers to the accompanying chords of the song:"goes like this, the fourth, the fifth, the minor fall, and the major lift": C, F, G, A minor, F. The version of Alexandra Burke was the British Christmas number one hit of 2008.

Marina Kraus sings the main voice of the song, which does not actually contain a second voice. But I liked her version so much that I wanted to sing it and therefore I arranged and sung a second voice for it.

Es existieren zahlreiche Coverversionen anderer Musiker, die in vielen Filmen und Fernsehserien verwendet wurden. Der Text der ursprünglichen Version von Various Positions beginnt mit Verweisen auf König David aus dem Alten Testament. Dabei wird die Melodie des Liedes mit einer anderen in Verbindung gebracht, die dieser auf der Harfe für Gott spielte. Eine Besonderheit des Liedes ist, dass innerhalb des Textes auf die Begleitakkorde des Liedes verwiesen wird: "goes like this, the fourth, the fifth, the minor fall, and the major lift": C, F, G, A Moll, F. Die Version von Alexandra Burke war der britische Weihnachts-Nummer-eins-Hit des Jahres 2008.

Marina Kraus singt die Hauptstimme des Songs, der eigentlich gar keine zweite Stimme enthält. Mir gefiel ihre Version jedoch so gut, dass ich gerne dazu singen wollte und ich habe daher eine zweite Stimme dazu arrangiert und eingesungen.
