For this project, I was given the emotimood, "your time-lapse brain." This got me thinking about what happens to your brain over time. It matures and becomes dense, filling up with ideas and motifs, per se. However, when it is born, it starts out as a hollow yet enormous box, as evidenced by the echoed drums and stick clicks. It is closed, but it is full of potential. Suddenly, the brain starts to light up, as the soft synth pad comes in. The first idea (a piano note) emerges, followed by three other similar-sounding yet very different ideas (other piano notes). The brain is intrigued by these four ideas, so it starts to repeat them. Now, it's making a pattern. It gets faster and develops rhythm. The brain pulsates with excitement on this gradual endeavor (more echoed bass drum hits). This entire mix gets gradually louder as a result. The power of this becomes overwhelming and borderline painful, as evidenced by the subtle electric guitar. At the final peak and at the right time, the brain simmers down. After what seems like 30 seconds, the brain emerges denser and sharper, as a soundscape patch graces its surface from left to right - signaling it just brought out a new idea for the world to hear. This piece may aim to serve as a representation of how far a brain has come or can go. However, just like a THX sampler primes a home theater audience, this piece also aims to prime our brains for our next ascension, whenever it may be. Hence the title, Prime Ascension.
