A beautiful sample-line, a 909ish drumset, some percussion, warm bassline, a long halftime break and the return to the pumpy frenzy - that's it.
The song I sampled here is "We Never Danced To A Love Song" by the mighty Manhattans. Beautiful original, you oughta check it out.
A relatively unknown song by I Level, named "3 AM" from 1982. I really can't say too much about this one as I just came across this by chance and honestly never had heard about these guys before. But I instantly liked this dreamy synths in the backround and played around a little bit.
"Peculiar" is not for dancing purpose, it's just a smooth trip hop-ish beat embracing the vocals of a true classic.
That classic happens to be almost 50 years old and was recorded and performed by one of Soul Music's most significant figures - Marvin Gaye.
Basically, I just took the vocals and built an independent and simple beat around it. Those who know my "Journey Of A Sleepwalker" album (http://moonyme.bandcamp.com/) will not be too surprised by this beat.
Basically, I just took the vocals and built an independent and simple beat around it. Those who know my "Journey Of A Sleepwalker" album (http://moonyme.bandcamp.com/) will not be too surprised by this beat.

I hope you'll enjoy it and leave some feedback!</itunes:summary>

It's been almost a year since the last edit, but here I go again with full force: Welcome back to the Moony Edit Sessions.
I can't tell for how long the series will last or how many edits I will make, but for now it'll be one edit per month as usual.

The first one of the "2nd season" is an edit I made of Martin L. Dumas Jr. killer-song "Attitude, Belief & Determination". I first heard it on a mix by Floating Points and have since then been madly in love with it. The overwhelming positive vibes and very motivating lyrics and a total length of almost 10 minutes made this unbelievably underrated song to a instant classic for me. And I always wanted to play it out in a more dancy version, so I decided to modify it a little bit.
It is a pretty simple edit. I rearranged the whole song, added some drums, some effects and that is most of it as I wanted to keep its' soul-touching energy.

I hope you like it and I'm looking forward to offering you more edits!

Update: this is the second version, as I noticed during my sets that the bass was too loud before.

As I've already said, this is the last one of my Moony Edit Sessions for now. It's been exactly two years of edits and I think this is a good point to let it end.
I want to thank you for your support and all the nice feedback I got. And I'm stoked about the progress I've made in these last two years.
And yeah, the title of this edit speaks for itself. I never wanna stop and never gonna stop doing what I do. So this might be the last edit for now, but you can be sure there's way more still to come.

This edit is based on Luther Vandross' "Never Too Much" from the same named album (1981). Hell of a disco classic!

Just like the other tracks of the series, free for you to download, spread and enjoy.
About The Moony Edit Session: The tracks contain samples of some of my favourite songs from different decades and different genres, mainly 70s-90s Soul, Rythm & Blues and Funk and 90s HipHop.

I hope you'll enjoy it.
Keep it moony!

I do not own the rights to this sample, neither do I intend to make commercial profit of this. It is for promotional purposes only. If somebody feels his or her rights infringed, drop a message and I will take it down immediately.

I tried to keep it quite simple with this edit. That is something that is easier said than done, at least for me. But I think you might hear a difference.
<itunes:author>Moony Me</itunes:author>

The third decade of my edits starts off with a combination of a super-sweet sample, a hiphop-influenced sampling method, some sweet electric piano riffs, a driving drum pattern and a typical electronic baseline going wild in the hooks. This time I put my hands on a Smooth Jazz/Soul-classic I'm sure most of you know in some way or another.

Just like the other tracks of the series, free for you to download, spread and enjoy.
About The Moony Edit Session: The tracks contain samples of some of my favourite songs from different decades and different genres, mainly 70s-90s Soul, Rythm & Blues and Funk and 90s HipHop.

This track samples "Just The Two Of Us" by Smooth Jazz legend Grover Washington Jr. with noone else on the vocals than Bill Withers. Check out this sweet 7:30 piece of an original, if you don't know it already (for instance because of Will Smith's cover).
I hope you'll enjoy it.
Keep it moony!

I do not own the rights to this sample, neither do I intend to make commercial profit of this. It is for promotional purposes only. If somebody feels his or her rights infringed, drop a message and I will take it down immediately.
