Olds, Alberta is a quaint farming town juxtaposed by a major roadway that cuts through it, presenting the possibility of being able to, at any given moment, simply follow it until everything starts to change. It was her adventurous spirit that led her from the heartland of the country to the center of Western-Canada’s spiritually infused bass scene. After graduating, Moonchild set out to explore the urban cultures of British Columbia and Alberta. She moved from city to city, staying long enough to discover something new, but never long enough to hinder her free spirit.
It was during one of these excursions that a friend brought Moonchild to a 403dnb powered Quincey’s party and the rolling basslines and 87bpm tempo shifted the course of her life. It didn’t take long for her ears to become accustomed to all sub low bass frequencies and the hunt for tunes quickly consumed most of her free time. This dedication to the music has sent her down a path that’s seen her behind the decks of Red Room (Vancouver), regular appearances at Dan Snakehead’s parties in East Hasting’s Astoria, shared stages with AC Slater, Reid Speed, Evol Intent & Iris. Known for her help in the local community and being involved in throwing notable and memorable parties. In less than 3 years and travelling as far as Victoria, Vancouver, Central Alberta, soon to be Costa Rica. Moonchild’s blends continue to draw new fans and land her spots at notable venues, and festivals like Motion Notion, DNBBQ, FAME and brand new Bamboo Bass Festival in Costa Rica winter 2016.
Upon moving back to Calgary, Miss Moonchild has made it her mission to delve deeper into an energy and a vibe that is being created under her careful hand and with some creative flair, Got Vibes?- she sure does. Music and ideas are being infused into the community; successful parties inlude Indigo Pulse Festival & Uprise Audio Tour. Always a selecta, you can check out Moonchild’s new Rum+Bass radio podcasts and interviews, as well as multiple guest spots on CJSW & DNB Girls. The same energy that plucked Moonchild from the humble roads of Central Alberta are still reaching for new borders. With a growing social media following now emerging from the United Kingdom, it appears the energy of bass music is drawing Moonchild back to its point of origin with plans for a European tour (London (UK), Amsterdam, Croatia & more).
She chose to follow this road, and everything is still changing. Armed with her fiercely independent attitude and charismatic personality, you will hear a wide range of carefully selected music effortlessly mixed with that Moonchild flair aiming to evoke emotion and move your body.
