Joachim Spieth(@joachim-spieth) is the founder of the German techno label Affin. His career started with one of the earliest releases on Kompakt, a record label that has contributed with paramount influence in the electronic music landscape. With more than 15 years in the scene he has managed to build a record label that many associate with quality and variety ranging from house to techno.

His upcoming release on the label is Aiden 12”, featuring remixes by Samuel L Session and Arnaud Le Texier. This release and others has also gained support by artists like Bas Mooy, Derrick May, Chris Liebing, Ben Klock, Alan Fitzpatrick just to name a few!

For more news and updates visit his website at joachimspieth.de/.

The next hour will be spent listening to an array of tracks showcasing different atmospheres that leaves you craving for more! We hope you enjoy this weeks podcast, and don't forget to follow Monument for more techno, art, and upcoming events!

Q & A

Q:
You must at one time have had a vision about how Affin should be, tell us about it

A:
The idea for an own label was present long time before Affin started. The main reason was just to release whatever i wanted. Moreover i like the idea of being independent from others opinions and after some years of releasing and working on several labels i felt fine to go for it.

Q:
Are you getting closer to your vision?

A:
Yes, for sure. The Affin 100 compilation was a turning point for the label. In the last 2 years the the label focussed on releasing techno.

Q:
What are your thoughts on the techno scene today?

A:
Compared to the time when i started releasing music (1999) a lot of things changed (otherwise it would be sad, ha ha). With developments of software and DAWs it’s easier/cheaper to start producing music. This caused a crowded market and especially on download shops you can see a lot of crap is being sold.

Q:
How do you spend your time when you are not producing, managing or djing?

A:
I don't have much time besides from it. I try to relax and easy my mind. :)

Q:
Finally, if music was not your carrier what could have been your alternative career?

A:
I’m not sure.

We are extremely proud of presenting Deepbass, a talented producer and DJ from Glasgow, Scotland. After being fans of his deep, hypnotic and atmospherical techno for years we finally got him featured on Monument.

For us, Deepbass is one of those producers that creates a new and unique sound to the techno scene. He has a futuristic vibe over his tracks and DJ sets. A kind of sound you just fall into, like a dream, or like you are in space..

So push play and join us into this one hour journey of proper techno. Don't forget to follow Monument for more techno, art, and upcoming events!
Q/A:
1. We love your deep and atmospherical sound. Why do you choose to create techno in this way? What is the message?
This sound for me is not something I chose, I always had an element of this sound when working in the studio.
Just something about the rolling hypnotic ambient infused sounds that I love.
I feel this music is all about the atmosphere and every track takes you on a journey and tells it's own story.

2. What kind of DJ gig do you like the most? (and yea... how was berghain?)
Usually I prefer smaller intimate venues where you have a close connection with the crowd, always helps if its a dark and dirty space.
Berghain was amazing, playing was everything I hoped and more, its true what they say there is a really special feeling in that place.

3. Whats coming up for 2014? Both for you and informa records
Got some cool stuff coming ,
The new Deepbass & Ness release on Dynamic Reflection
Digital release of my Sequence EP on Edit Select Records
Informa Experiments Volume 2 is going to press
A remix on the awesome new deep techno label Hypnus
Some stuff to release on various labels from a very successful week in the studio with nAX_Acid
and finally INFORMA008 is currently in production which will feature myself and another cool artist who I have been following a lot lately but prefer not to disclose just yet.

4. Any extra words?
You can catch me play live this month at ENTER. In Space, Ibiza in the ENTER.Mind room 10/07
Followed by Batofar, Paris where I'll be playing alongside Par Grindvik 11/07

Welcome to our first podcast, straight from Norway!
For our first round, we have invited our good friend, dj, and party organizer: Korpex.

The young berliner had his first success behind the turntables in the beginning of the new millennium. After moving to Norway in 2005, everything changed fast and Korpex had countless gigs and became resident at The Villa Oslo.

In Oslo Korpex and his friends also started a new underground concept called: Amenta. Amenta was launched in 2011 and Korpex is one of the main guys behind the concept both as DJ and organizer. The event focuses on providing unforgettable nights on the dance floor, booking both Norwegian and international DJs.

Korpex style varies between Detroithouse, driving Deephouse and Dubtechno.

After Monument introduced their new norwegian techno podcast, it was no question for him to make the first edition of the Monument series.

This man knows how to play, and also how to create epic underground nights, preferably starting in the night and ending in the morning.
