Out of Africa - Oliver "Tuku" Mtukudzi Tribute - 29 January 2019

This edition is a tribute podcast to one Africa's great musical names, Oliver Mtukudzi, who passed away on January 23rd 2019. Known simply as Tuku to his legion of fans, both at home in Zimbabwe and around the world, he transcended world music and cut across into the mainstream.

A brilliant guitarist with a voice like treacle, this podcast shares some of his story and many of his greatest hits drawn from an astonishing output of almost 60 albums spanning a career that kicked off in the mid-1970s. Quietly political, Tuku was best known for his work to advance the cause of gender equality in Southern Africa.

RIP Tuku, they don't make many like you.
