Now the time has come – mikebo’s long-awaited concept album has been published!

mikebo’s new album “Red Desert” addresses the mankind’s both ancient and highly topical dream: To leave this planet and to strive for the stars.

One of the most tempting destination, leaving our moon aside, is certainly our neighbouring planet Mars. The red planet is a mysterious place with plenty of unanswered questions, especially regarding possible parallels between both the earth and the Mars. Some of these questions haven’t even been asked yet…

“Electronic Vintage” is the name that the German Musician mikebo gave to his audio-visual performance, which combines synthesizer-based compositions with video-art-work.

According to mikebo, the creation of musical structures can well be compared with the act of painting or sculpting. The experimentation with various sounds inspired mikebo and let to the production of his songs. As a result, melodies and harmonic structures can be considered to be the direct outcome of the inspiration he got by discovering new interesting sounds and effects.

Given that, it is clear why some sounds could be perceived as soundtracks: with the power of imagination, you easily will be able to discover the pictures which belong to the musical “movie.”

Mit "Red Desert" produzierte mikebo seit längerer Zeit wieder ein Konzept-Album.

“Red Desert” widmet sich dem uralten und zugleich hochaktuellen Traum des Menschen: seine erdgebundene Beschränkung aufzuheben und zu den Sternen zu streben.

Eines der interessantesten Objekte, neben unserem guten alten Mond, ist hier sicherlich unser Nachbarplanet Mars. Nach wie vor umgibt diesen Planeten ein großes Mysterium, was mehr Fragen bezüglich der Verbindungen und Gemeinsamkeiten zwischen dem Mars und der Erde aufwirft, als die Wissenschaft beantworten kann und vielleicht auch will ...

Musikalische Strukturen zu schaffen, auf der Grundlage elektronischer Instrumente, vergleicht mikebo gerne mit den Prozessen der Malerei und der Bildhauerei. Seine Stücke entstehen in erster Linie durch Ideen, die aufkommen, wenn er mit Sounds spielt und experimentiert. Somit entstehen Melodien und harmonikale Strukturen oftmals erst durch Inspirationen die von interessanten Sounds und Effekten ausgehen.

Durch diese Herangehensweise bekommt so manches Stück einen starken Soundtrack-Charakter, wo das "Kopfkino" dann die entsprechenden Bilder zum musikalischen Film liefert.
