Seems like a lot of more recent creations feel the urge to have a really balanced back-and-forth between hi-hats and kick, which keeps focus balanced between odd and even beats. Older House seems less concerned with that and more centered around a driving kick drum. So what I call Pure House is largely stuff that follows that principle. Granted, my grouping is sloppy sometimes, so who knows how many selections in this mix a purist ought to cast out, but it's a nice collection nonetheless. Nothing fancy in the mixing -- sometimes the best option really was just a fade-and-play.
