In the early 80's, France was touched by the Hip Hop fever. Spraid in the population because of a T.V. show called H.I.P H.O.P. and hosted by Sydney. It was really like an alien invasion. So much innovative, unique and original in all its aspect, and never seen before.

The show was rich of all the expression available in the HH culture: dancing, painting, rappin, deejayin and was designed suitable for the kids, with games, battles, classes.
Sydney had also guests like Herbie Hancok, Afrikaa Bambataa

The breakdance was named SMURF because of a mistake made in the evening news. The USA's soundtrack of this Belgian cartoon was called "Let's Do The Smurf" and was showing dancers poppin'. Enough for a french journalist to called breakdance during a huge TV audience, the SMURF. It had a huge impact.

I've dedicated my mix to this odd name, used in english to called the famous comic created in french language by Peyo and which the real name is in fact "Les Schtroumpfs". True Story!
