How Jehan rowed around the first island

There is no manuscript with fountain pen for this. I had simply memorized everything the entire time. I focused on the old sagas, and the beautiful islands, and some more.

The first island provided all the material for the others. I knew I would go all the way to the Gates of Hell, and then just see what happened....

Fortunately, that summer the organ was still sufficiently tuned. However, I did use a few tricks: Block chords octavated two-handed, because of the timbres, absurd registration, completely un-liturgical, sub-bass fifth without root, so grumbling sound in the bass (10 2/3' and 8' without 16' hehehe...), following the fantasy. Individual notes seem to jump from left to right, that's just good organ building with division into C and C sharp windchest ...

Everything is hand-registered, i.e. there are no preset registrations that were called up by pressing a button. The horror for "practical professional organists in community service" , haha...

Somewhere it says: "Freedom of the imagination was Robert Schumann's deepest creative reason" ...

And yes, I'm good with "Chekov's Gun" ....

Yes, this is the sea battle from "Ben Hur." However, the angel Jehan, yes himself shot in the war in 1940, and the tortured slave meet. But before that, sonically, the world comes to an end. These recordings are from 1996, and the horrific impression of a new first war in Europe, in the former Yugoslavia, can definitely be heard. Mass rapes, other war crimes and the destruction of ancient cultural areas shocked the world at that time. Therefore, the intensity of the music at this point knows no mercy.

The dialogue, in which Jehan appears as saviour of the world at minute 7.24 immediately thereafter, is played only with Principal 2' stops, whereby right and left hand each produce spread chords on two manuals, whose three-part harmony is then exactly reversed in the repetition ...

in absurd heiterer atmosphäre (so a. eichmann beim verhör während seines prozesses in israel) wurde die vernichtung der europäischen juden organisiert. die bereits stattfindenen mordaktionen erschienen den tätern zu wenig effizient.

diese vor sieben jahren aufgenommene musik ist sehr anstrengend, denn sie berührt eine gänzlich unfaßbare grausamkeit.
wenn sie mit dem thema nicht vertraut sind oder ganz einfach aus anderen gründen schöne musik benötigen, hören sie bitte etwas anderes.

dank an die kunstkirche bochum, auf deren orgel fast alle teile dieser musik gespielt wurden.

music to commemorate and warn: 83 years ago, the so-called "wannsee conference" took place in berlin.

in an absurdly cheerful atmosphere (according to a. eichmann at the interrogation during his trial in israel) the extermination of the european jews was organized. the murder actions already taking place seemed too inefficient to the perpetrators.

this music, recorded seven years ago, is very exhausting, because it touches on an utterly incomprehensible cruelty.
if you are not familiar with the subject or simply need beautiful music for other reasons, please listen to something else.

thanks to the kunstkirche bochum, on whose organ almost all parts of this music were played.

in absurd heiterer atmosphäre (so a. eichmann beim verhör während seines prozesses in israel) wurde die vernichtung der europäischen juden organisiert. die bereits stattfindenen mordaktionen erschienen den tätern zu wenig effizient.

diese vor sieben jahren aufgenommene musik ist sehr anstrengend, denn sie berührt eine gänzlich unfaßbare grausamkeit.
wenn sie mit dem thema nicht vertraut sind oder ganz einfach aus anderen gründen schöne musik benötigen, hören sie bitte etwas anderes.
