<itunes:author>Makgotso Nkosi- Manjik Mak</itunes:author>

Mintirho Ya Vhulavhula – the works of your hands are evident, this saying loosely translated means your work speaks for itself.
I've named this jazz mix after a journey I've been on, one of reflection and healing. As I listen to each note, I’m reminded of the small parts of myself that I’ve worked on, the pieces I’ve carefully tended to and nurtured. It’s in those moments of quiet work, in the spaces where no one is watching, that the most profound changes happen.

I can see it now – how my actions, over time, have started coming from a place that’s deeper, more transcendent. It’s like the music itself, each note building on the last, creating something beautiful out of the small, seemingly insignificant parts. This mix is a reminder to keep going, to keep on keeping on, even when the work feels endless. Track 3 “The Seeker” from The SN Project encompasses the entire message of what I felt as I put this together.

The evidence of our efforts is always there, in the harmony of our lives, in the quiet moments where we realize just how far we’ve come. Let this be a reminder to continue your journey, to trust in the process, and to know that the work of your hands is not in vain. Keep going, because the beauty of your journey is just beginning to unfold.
Ke Nako, translates to "it's time"
For me the name translates the almost flooding feeling in my stomach, the excitement and exhilaration I feel on building new things and starting afresh. It is time, for me it might be building for you it could be letting go, for some staying still.
My memories of my brother and jazz go way back in time. The most memorable being him playing jazz in our young days, he could have been 12 or less when he used to play jazz CDs at home and one time he played Hugh Masekela, I ended up recruiting kids from the neighbourhood and creating dance piece to "Bring back Nelson Mandela" since then my brother has introduced me to amazing jazz music.
This is for SIphosezizwe, my brother. The playlist is made up of music he likes and artists he has introduced me to.
Themes go from friendship, love, spirituality, land and other lighter matters. It was important for me to include Mam'Sylivia Mdungelwa who was the very first SA musician to be signed by Blue Notes. (Nduduzo is not the first).
Included on the playlist is: Zoe Modiga, Siya Makhuzeni, Dolly Rathebe, Dorothy Masuka, Lindiwe Maxolo, Thandy Ntuli, Sibongile Khumalo, Khonaye among an array of amazing women.
I imagined myself in water, not swimming to the back or towards the front, but simply treading and being where I was, it didn't feel like I was drowning.
It is with the same emotions that I put together this mix, when I was absolutely present and not distracting myself by being busy.

This mix celebrates young South African jazz artists such as Mandisi, Zoe, Bokani Dyer, Feya Faku, Nduduzo Makhathini, Thandi Ntuli, Sbu Mash, Siphephelo Ndlovu among others.

I hope it brings you back to the present.

This selection of songs speaks to the soul, the songs are deeply influenced by indigenous South African sounds and languages.
