Paradoxalement les titres présentés dans ce volet rempliront de joie et procureront beaucoup de plaisir mais ils ne manqueront pas, en même temps, de nous tirer la larme à l’œil. Et pour cause ils proviennent tous de formidables artistes partis (beaucoup) trop tôt mais qui auront tous à leur manière marqué l'Histoire du Groove.
Il ne s'agit pas forcément des morceaux les plus populaires mais leurs carrières prolifiques contiennent tellement de purs bijoux sonores qu'il était finalement aisé d'en présenter qui emportent l'adhésion de tout un chacun.
La sélection rendant hommage s'étale de 1975 à 1985 rappelant que même si certains de ces morceaux ont été écrits il y a déjà un demi-siècle ils restent plus que jamais d'actualité en 2025.

These aren't necessarily the most popular tracks, but their prolific careers contain so many pure sonic gems that it was ultimately easy to present some that win everyone's support.

The musical styles grouped under the name of Groove music (and resulting mainly from the interactions between Funk, Soul and Jazz) really emerged with the famous Cold Sweat by James Brown in 1967. After that nothing will be the same and the effervescent evolution culminated in the mid-1980s in the triumph of the Boogie genre, which some describe as the ultimate incarnation of Funk.

In this context the year 1982 appears as an essential marker of this evolution with a wealth of productions, each warmer than the other thanks to the balance between the organic instrumentation of the 70s and the synthetic instrumentation of the 80s.

It is this bubbling and exciting period of fifteen years (1967 to 1982 therefore) that I propose to humbly honor through a collection of musical selections entitled "Golden Years".

To begin this time travel through the golden age of Groove let's go back to **1982**, this year so often acclaimed by lovers of funky sounds.

This mix is therefore a tribute to this brilliant musical program whose title is not trivial: "American Nights" a great moment of dreamlike night escape for listeners stuck in the concrete coldness of the Parisian suburbs.

While this selection constitutes a disparate set of tracks based on my memories of the time (I have no more tapes) and other tracks from my personal choice, I hope they allow you to capture the atmosphere specific to this special show.

Finally the generic title of the show was the jazz-funk anthem "By All Means" by the late Alphonse Mouzon. Of course this cut is included in this selection which calls for others in the coming days.
