Lyfe&Daze Tracks

by Luc Forlorn

Luc Forlorn was born and raised in the North West of England some time in the last century. He developed a love of music from a very young age, spending his pocket money on all the vinyl he could afford, building a library that made him the envy of all his friends (true story!). As a young Art School student in a very laid back and bohemian environment he and his peers where allowed the privilege of "playing records" in the school recreational area at lunchtimes. It was here for one wonderful hour each schoolday he could always be found, controlling the lunch break music selections and manning the deck (yes, singular back in those days!).

Fast forward a decade, and he is a young adult and now one half of a popular and fairly successful duo DJing mainly in and around the North West. He's still controlling the music, only now there are two decks. It's all Dance and House; this is a time before the term 'Chillout' has even been coined.

Then came along the CD format and with it single releases that would contain five, six, sometimes up to a dozen remixes of a track. Luc was blown away, not just at the amazing value for money these releases represented, but also at the amazing transformations some of the artists and DJ's created. Sasha and Brothers In Rhythm were huge influences, turning four minute tracks into twelve minute anthems. And best of all, often with two minute ambient breaks sat right in the middle. He was hooked on these breakdowns, and it was from here really that his passion for downtempo was first born.

Now, like the child of long ago, he is still searching. Searching for that "perfect sound". It is out there. Frequently. He finds it, it is perfect and he falls in love all over again. He shares it, wants the world to know all about it and to feel the same joy. And then it's done, it's heard. And so the search begins again, and it's true: the world really does have music for those that wish to hear.

You can catch Luc's 'Namasté' series of mixes weekly on Mixcloud (usually uploaded Fri/Sat each week)
