Vinyl & digital release early September 2015

One of Paper Disco's biggest tunes of this year has been given the all star re-rub treatment and it’s a full house of dance floor dynamite.

The original has been rocking the boxes of the great and the good since it was out last year on Trash The Wax # 2 and Luke Una Bomber played it last month on BBC Radio 6 Music MIF special as Manchester's hot tune of the moment as well as Nemone on Electric Ladyland. And not forgetting Tune of the Month in Mixmag back in December.

Leftside Wobble delivers an absolute monster that has been doing some serious damage with the few jocks who have fan dangled a copy. Bill Brewster dropped it in his closing Wildlife set and Chris Duckenfield has been pressing the launch button. We’re talking a warehouse vibe with an arp riffed bass, plenty of reverb and the filtered, plaintive vocal giving it that emotional depth that all the best house music has. Make no mistake, this is one heavy remix.

Florida’s King of Disco Sleazy McQueen introduces a rolling bass, congas and some cheeky attitude for a stripped back joint that will smoke the floor. Add the vocal with subtle hypnotics from the original and it’s a late night, low ceiling, dry ice moment.

Peza goes deep with a etcher version that has a motorbike feel to it. A reverbed snare, nagging acid, congas and bass build the track as it sucks you in to it's world of dark disco. It’s a head mangler in the best possible sense.

Finally Fingerman sticks close to the original but beefs up the drums, ups the off bass and gives it a bit more swing for a mix that applies some crank.

Acapella from the legend that is Bunny Sigler on "By The Way You Dance"

OUT NOW on vinyl & digital

Sylvester-esque disco-house banger on Paper
Take Sylvester's 'Over And Over' as a starting point, then throw in PBR Streetgang's N-H-N, and you start to get an idea of the thumping cheekiness of this dance floor banger, one that should find its way into a wide spectrum of sets from disco to tech-house. It's the simple, off-beat, pulsating baseline drenched in reverb combined with the ridiculous lyrics and belly cries of "Urh!" and "Move!" that make this disco in spirit. The groove is, quite simply, a winner. And as the track builds with layers of cheeky arping synths leading to a final synth-wash onslaught you realise that actually this is a secret weapon with a lot of charm - it's the sort of invention Tony Stark would be proud of. 9/10

Early support coming from:
Leftside Wobble
Chris Duckenfield
Luke Unabomber
Chris Massey
Peza
Fingerman
Yam Who?

***UPDATE***
Release date: 16 Jan 2015

Forthcoming, vinyl release on Paper Recordings and part of the next installment of Trash the Wax. Enjoy ;)

South coast resident Leon is back from rocking Croatia with two super good tracks that reflect both sides of the dance music coin.

“Above” is a fine slice of nu-disco to kick things off. It’s a kick heavy cut up with P funk bass, Chic guitar, live drums, sampled vocals and a healthy dose of leftfield wonk that has already proved itself at this year’s Electric Elephant.

On the flip “Below” takes things synthy, dark and hypnotic with congas to give it that all important funk element. It builds with 5th stabs, a healthy bottom end and enough melody to keep things interesting but it’s a 4am moment all the way.

Out now on Paper Disco

Proviant Audio – Once I Thought

1. Original
2. Prins Thomas Disko Mix
3. Chris Massey Mix
4. Leon Sweet’s Wizard Mix
5. Flash Atkins Mix

Mathais Stubo’s Proviant Audio is launching Paper Disco with Once I Thought, the first single from his forthcoming second album ‘Drift Days & Disco Nights’.

His debut, ‘Real Love Tastes Like This’ announced his arrival in 2011 in true style with it’s heady mix of house, disco, soul and hip-hop. The new material is more disco and demonstrates his continued development as one of the most new exciting producers around today.

Once I Thought points the way towards a more disco direction but still with his trademark choppy production and layered instrumentation. Add an arrangement that always surprises to a vocoded vocal earworm and the summer of disco finally lands via Norway!

Prins Thomas takes on his fellow countryman in fine style, bringing his own psychedelic disco sound. Retaining the vocal, the hypnotic bass is introduced and the track builds before the broken kick is introduced a full 3 ½ minutes in. It continues to ebb and flow with washes, synths, samples, acid and moving bass in true head and feet mashing style. It finishes off the way it begins, deep and trippy!

Nu disco upstart Chris Massey takes time out from his day jobs at Paper Towers and Electric Elephant to come up with a mix that ticks the 4/4 disco boxes but takes it big room. With spacious bass and synth and the original’s nagging guitar it’s got Funktion 1 written all over it!

Leon Sweet brings his trademark crisp production and gives the mix a 80s bent. With touches of Blancmange and Japan, it’s squelchy, synthy and dancefloor effective!

Flash Atkins takes a more organic direction with live drums and percussion building up to a fat dropped bass and 4/4 beat. The break reintroduces the percussion again before it’s back to business!

Remixes coming from Ron Basejam, Dean 'Sunshine' Smith, a further dub remix from me and a bonus edit - TBA
Release dates:
Reactions:

"Show You has fast become one of my tunes of the year having been the most consecutively played track on my Grooveskool Radio Show in the past year. Its almost like 3 fantastic tunes all rolled into one giant ball of joy. One of them tunes that you simply MUST play from start to finish during a set. Simply brilliant. 10/10" - Fingerman

Sleazy McQueen – Immense!
Danny Krivit – I Like the Dean SS Remix & Leon Sweet Dub,
Tom Findlay (Groove Armada) – Ron Basejam all over it.
The Dead Rose Music Company – Solid funk! Ron’s mix for me.
Modular – Great Shelter vibe track and a nice remix of the original.
Bill Brewster – Ron Basejam mix for me and a nice remix of the original. Darker electronic elements balance up well.
Tensnake – Nice summer disco tunes, really looking forward to playing it.
Krysko – REALLY into the Leon Sweet dub.
Dave Jarvis (Faith) – Excellent strong release, taking with me to the garden festival 2013.
Sleazy Beats – What a great record guys. Our love affair with all things Paper goes back well over a decade, and it’s a proper delight to see you in your usual fine form. Jim’s remix is our pick of the bunch but all the mixes are great. Great contemporary disco, hats off!
Marius Våreid (Full Pupp) – Ron Basejam of course, hot shit!
Nathan Detroit – I LOVE Cristabella….sweet music!
Rocky (X-Press 2) – Lovely. OG and Ron B mixes are the ones.
DJ Rocca (Ajello) – Ron Basejam for me.
Will Tramp – Sounding good, Another top promo. Nice work
Rev Milo – Nice twist in the original – summery!
Get Down Edits – Very nice release with a lovely selection of remixes.
Bobby Beige – Nice package and great remix from Ron Basejam. Have to praise a sterling effort from Dean Smith for bringing his delays and reverb to the track and spacing it out nicely.
Lukas (Futureboogie) – Lovely stuff! Basejam and Dean SS are both good for me.
Phat Phil Cooper – Big up the KEYS!!! Great package! Bot Ron Basejam and Deanos mix doing it for me…
Jerry Bouthier (Kitsune) – Lovely tune, like original and Dean.
Cowbell Radio – The walking Summer Anthem machine does it again! Solid dancefloor gold, this 150th release is class all across the board.
Nick Holder – Some serious roller skating tracks right there!
Harri – Liking these.
Danielle Moore (Crazy P) – Love Leon’ dub and Ron’s track. Lovely nice one!
This Is Why We Dance – EPIC!
Advokkat – Great track, I like it so much.
Wrighty (Soul Buggin’) – Loving both the Ron Basejam remix and the dub.
Ruben & Ra – Really feeling the dub, it has a nice cinematic / deep house crossover sound.
Keep Schtum – Great job!

This is a low quality shortened preview of the full track.
