azul-revolto - Substance w/ Casually Here [Algebra Records]

It will be a memorable night for Lisbon, UK producer and Algebra Records head boss Casually Here is visiting the country to play in the presentation parties of brand new “LIVID” EP by Portuguese artist azul-revolto, released through his own imprint. Together with two distinguished artist that embody the best electronic music the country have to offer, Mr. Herbert Quain and Random Gods, Musicbox Lisbon sure will witness a night full of leftfield electronica, sensual and dark beats and controlled exhilaration.

For those who follow our blog they know azul-revolto was one of our bets for “artists to watch” in 2016 and he didn’t stop pushing his own sonority to very personal interesting paths, no wonder the first cut from LIVID, “Casting Shadows” was one of the most downloadable monthly tracks at XLR8R. We take the opportunity of this important moment in his career and the unforgettable event tonight to premiere the collaborative work between him and Casually Here for “Substance”, third track from the release that set forth a change in the ambience from the initial A side of the EP by diving through languid and obscure side of sultry house, where digital and organic percussive elements make the perfect bed for emotionally charged ethereal vocal inserts, samples and synths come and go leaving a sense of abandon and relief or when layered in juxtaposed climatic highs, adds a challenging sense of tension. The process was also peculiar as Casually Here explains:

“Hearing Hugo’s music for the first time I felt an immediate musical kinship with him. The collaboration came really easily with Hugo sending the skeleton of a track and me fleshing it out with synths before sending the project back and forth between London and Lisbon. The whole thing was done through the internet with us only meeting and talking for the first time after having finished it which fits the ideas behind the record.”
