<itunes:summary>King Mas is a musical amalgamation of culture and art. A voice that reverberates thought-provoking messages, King Mas is a trailblazer for the conscious reggae fusion movement. Dubbed the “Musical Obeah Man”, The King has inherited an ancestral music tradition that spans generations. A native of Boston, Massachusetts, King Mas was born to culturally grounded Caribbean parents. His father Supreme, is a legendary calypso monarch from the island of Montserrat, and his mother a Clarendon born Jamaican who grew up during the formative years of reggae music. This is not to mention, an immensely talented lineage that is comprised of musicians and songwriters including Everton “Reality” Weeks, who wrote the world-renowned calypso hit “Hot, Hot, Hot”.
With a strong passion for music, King Mas drew inspiration from isolation as an epilepsy survivor. Facing the reality of a potentially life ending condition, King Mas would find solace in song. With Walkman in hand, he would tune into the arrangements of his favorite artists and impersonate their musical style and delivery. From Buju to Busta, to Beres and, Brian McKnight, The King immersed himself in varied types of music. It was this experience that shaped his existence as an exceptional artiste with an international following.
King Mas acknowledges his divine purpose for living, also known as Nkrabea. Drawing from African spirituality, The King crafts distinctive words and sound to release life-altering energy, aiding mankind in realizing itself. With songs like, “Walk Like A Champion” and “Reflection”, King Mas chooses to heal rather than simply entertain. It is through this calling that he has earned the moniker “Musical Obeah Man”, paying homage to his Afro-Caribbean roots.
To date, King Mas has performed all over the United States and the four corners of the world. From Lebanon to Lintz, to the Limpopo River, The King has electrified audiences with his unique vocal style, often delivering encore performances. In 2012, he independently released his debut album, “One Wish”. Now, “Rasta Evolution” and “Ocean of Emotion” will leave you craving for more King Mas. His sophomore album “Rasta Evolution” has received positive reviews globally.</itunes:summary>

Rasta Evolution (Album)

Intro:
Nuff ah dem waan see the victory and dem waan face defeat,
Reject the bitters but dem waan taste the sweet,
Them love you when you’re strong, the moment they find you weak,
Them ah labba everyting outta street,
So I ah stay far from them,
Energy vampire, I know exactly what you are,
So I ah stay far! (Farrrrr…)

Chorus:
I see them & blind,
And ah hear them & deaf,
From them stab I inna di back one time,
Nah give them space fi dweet again
Verse 1:
Some never contribute a ting, them only come fi extract,
Ah nuh the IRS but every day them come ah tax your energy,
Everything you do them keeping track,
Never invest inna yu ting but feel entitled to your stock,
Now them sight the works, the manifestation of the most high,
All of a sudden now them waan fi hitch up close by,
Fi ride you like the donkey and the horse ride,
From yu eye open you fi see dem and close eye,
(Chorus)
Verse 2:
Listen to the whisper inna yu ear bredda,
You nuh hear bredda?
Some a dem is only friend fi di fair-weather,
Let your heart lead, never succumb to peer pressure,
No mek them draw you out like no tape measure (Cho!),
For as your back turn, grievous words from them tongue,
Behind them bag a skin teeth ah dem carry the most grudge,
Envious covetous, dem ah move well vicious,
Still dem cyan damage us!
(Chorus)
Verse 3:
Nuff ah dem love fi see you stressed out, waan gi yu ting fi vex bout,
Inna fi yuh circle and waan draw the line fi see you X out,
But the Obeah man dem can’t hex out,
The powers strong so we haffi look a next route,

King MAS speaks for all men around the world who want their significant other to “Walk Like a Champion.” Using music to convey this message is the natural thing for a musician to do, and using the familiar phrase from the Reggae Legend and Icon, Buju Banton helps to being home that point!

Building on a music bed of smooth seduction, and a respectful initiation via bass, electric guitar and organ, King MAS the Ras and Anto NeoSoul offers charmed sweet flowing lyrics with hints of Reggae and Dancehall undertones which add a little grit to this audio love story! King sings: “Lioness / never have I ever seen a body like that / ah must the ital weh mek the belly so flat / intellectually girl you have the thing lock / woman you stand clear and distinct from the pack / you just walk like a champion ….”

Speaking on the embrace and respect of his woman’s heritage, and the path of her journey (which now includes him), King trumpets his Queen’s strength, beauty and intelligence and wraps her in a red ribbon bow; his Queen is a gift to the world which is a reflection of how fellow men feel about their Lady!

The performance King MAS delivers would make Buju proud! This one drop remix version, featuring critically acclaimed Key and R&B Anto NeoSoul, was produced by Mega Records out of Nairobi, Kenya. The original, which features musicians Ray Keys (Keyboard) and Warren Wade (vocals) is available now as an EP on iTunes, Spotify and all leading digital retail outlets: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/walk-like-a-champion-ep/id969324677

The performance King MAS delivers would make Buju proud! This one drop remix version, featuring critically acclaimed Key and R&B Anto NeoSoul, was produced by Mega Records out of Nairobi, Kenya. The original, which features musicians Ray Keys (Keyboard) and Warren Wade (vocals) is available now as an EP on iTunes, Spotify and all leading digital retail outlets: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/walk-like-a-champion-ep/id969324677</itunes:summary>
Intro:
Genocide, It's a genocide
Inna di west, ah nuh nuttin fi yuh head divide

Chorus:
Out yah pon di corner
Di beast ah bring the drama
Dutty babylon
Will nyam yuh flesh like a piranha
When mi touch di street
Ah Ras Tafari ah mi armor
Heart of a lion
I ah nuh lamb to di slaughter

Verse 1:
What is the price of life?
Poor people pickney dem ah sacrifice
No matter how you trod ah day
And where you walk ah night
Africans Inna di west ah live
Inna sniper sight
Pregnant madda get shot
Tru she go cuss bumbo claat
Down ah jersey man ah chat
Say ah today it ago stop
But dem nuh seet say
The whole system is a choke hold
babylon check say man soft
Like a snow cone from cold stone
The great Asante used to sit upon the gold throne
Now ah nuh nuttin
Fi a black man get throw down
And hold down
And dem tell yuh say nuh move no mek no sound
Execute a youth
And tell him madda say fi don't frown
(Woyyy)
There's no justice
No its just us
In a system designed to enslave us
Off our knees now
Time to rise up
Di ting dem
And fight fi wi children

(Chorus)

Verse 2:
Nuff ah di youths nuh sight di truth
Trans Atlantic amnesia
post traumatic stress expressed
In every trigger squeezed
At another son of kush
Trodding through the streets of Rome
Trying to live in massa house
dem dutty house ah nuh we home
Ancient bond so tight
Just like my knots weh can't be combed
The price of this life
Dollar bills cannot afford
Deception and lies
Inna di media that surrounds
The future is in the hands
Of the youths who hear the sounds
Of the ancestors calling
Saying fear not
Dutty Babylon is falling
Youth yuh nuh see dat?
Ancient consciousness rising
Trusting in the wealth
Inherent in the soil
Absent in the coil
Vanity ah spoil
The love we used to have
It mek I blood ah boil
When di stray bullet kill di likkle child
Tears over the loss of that little smile
Meanwhile The Juvenile
Daily getting victimized
Criminalized
From the public school
Into prison life
Them streamline the pipeline
I sight it with clarity
Like feline inna night time
In the darkness lies my sanity
Ah couldn't I dem want fi
Strike down like Mike brown
Prefer take a flight now
Forward to Zion, Dat ah my throne

Outro:
Mi say #HandsUpDontShoot
Intro: (Chanting)
(Chanting)

Verse 1:
They took us through the door of no return
Took away our names and stole our words,
Never thought there would be a day,
When InI would be free again,
Countless civilizations and peoples lost,
Inna this yah African holocaust.
Still we survive, and we still have our pride,
So this yah generation ah chant fi liberation,
Africans at home and abroad,
And ah pour out musical libations,
Inna the new millennium as we trod,

Chorus:
Cause this is our story, our African story,
Yes we remember the pain, but still we remember the glory, (Whooa)
This is our story, our African story,
Though they try to hide our history and cloud it with mystery,
InI come fi tell OURstory,

Verse 2:
Let me take you down ah Swaziland,
Where them ah practice mathematics long long before Babylon,
Some ah say that them ah Christian,
When the foundation of their face is founded in Kemetic religion,
Mansah Musa the king of Mali,
Was the world’s richest man through the trading of gold,
So much history hidden from the youths of today,
And still the half has never been told

Chorus:
Of our story, our African story,
Now we are free from the chains, but still we remember the glory, (Whooa)
This is our story, our African story,
Though they try to hide our history and cloud it with mystery,
InI come fi preserve OURstory,

Verse 3:
Let our past be an inspiration,
Give us new millennium motivation,
Black man mek we come with more innovation,
To uplift the station from our nation,
For mankind ah Africa set the foundation,
So we’re standing on the shoulders of many a great man,
Let us rise from the dust and claim our black dignity,
Bun down all illusion let the truth set us free

Chorus:
And tell our story,
Our African story,
We free from the chains, but still we remember the glory, (Whooa)
This is our story, our African story,
Though they try to hide our history and cloud it with mystery,
InI nah forget OURstory,

Chant:
Oh na na na na,
Oh na na na na na na,
Oh na na na na na na,
Oh yeah, Ohh yeah,

The final track on this album, masterfully reinterpreted by Leroy "Horsemouth" Wallace, is "Judas Kiss". Originally recorded on Don Corleone's Antique rhythm in the fall of 2011, Judas Kiss was an instant hit among the roots massive as it's cautionary message comes across with pinpoint precision cutting straight to the heart of the matter with multiple flows and melodic structures. The album version is a blend of the minds of Horsemouth and King MAS in terms of production and even features a brief tribute to the late, great, reggae icon Garnett Silk. As far as motivation for the lyrical content, MAS has this to say. "Many a time in this business and in life I've been betrayed and undermined by those closest to me. In fact, it's those in your inner circle that always have the most power to hurt you but if one is conscious and aware then one can feel the change when the vibes switch and avoid the stab in the back to come. Just be wise, be strong, and keep a clean heart. Bad things can happen to good people but wicked people will always reap what they sow eventually and nothing is more satisfying than watching them unravel because of the works of their own hands.."

Lullaby is a largely digital rhythm, with the only live instrument being the drum played by Glen Grant of Ghetto People Band, and otherwise is completely played digitally by MAS. Vocally, lyrics and, melodies are woven into a slick and sensual narrative brimming with emotion brought through with a string of harmonic riffs over the smooth yet spiky bass line. Lullaby is a lovers tune with experimental elements that may not serve it's intended purpose. As a musical journey with plenty of twists to keep reggae lovers interested, it may just keep them from falling asleep..

In another show of versatility, King MAS brings forward some Afrikan vibes in this tune continuing his romantic story and for the first time ever sings in another language, the Zimbabwean tongue of Shona. "With my queen being based in South Africa and me being based in the USA, this tune was composed over the course of many nights where the time difference saw me sending her off to bed via different modes of communication and thinking about her still. The greatest moment was being with her before the album was released and watching her reaction as I played it for her the first time." says MAS. With a hypnotic, rhythmic percussion section accompanied by a light acoustic guitar strum blended seamlessly with the other elements, synthesized and natural, the musical production (played almost entirely by MAS, accompanied by Felix Mwangi of 12th Note Productions) is a perfect palette allowing the lyrics to flow freely and ring true. "Love From A Distance" stands out among all of the records on this album and has become an instant fan favorite for it's danceable, Afrikan feel, it's catchy melodic structure, and it's strong Shona influence highlighted by MasSicker's recent trip to Zimbabwe. In another case of art inspired by life, King MAS truly touches a nerve with this one and hopefully he won't have to "Love From A Distance" for too much longer..

It started with a link in the winter of 2011. Cecil Green introduced MasSicker's music to the Sounie Productions team and the rest is history. When King MAS was approached with the O-Nine rhythm it only took one day in studio to complete "Ambush Lova", both writing and recording it, and a couple of days after for the final tweaks to be taken care of to make it ready for the road. Since that time it has become a global favorite peaking at #1 on DJ Steve's galaxy gold radio chart and getting rotation from Jamaica, to Germany, to as far as South Africa and Zimbabwe. The album version however was remixed and mastered by King MAS and his engineer Felix Mwangi of 12th note productions. With the overwhelming success of "Ambush Lova", over Sounie Productions "O-Nine" Riddim, it was a natural addition to the album but as a songwriter and producer in his own right King MAS, always seeking to add new dimensions to established ideas, composed a short interlude to the track drawing upon his own romantic experiences. The sweet acoustic sound accompanied by a few percussion instruments tells an intimate tale that resonates with lovers around the globe and all instruments barring the piano (played by Felix Mwangi of 12th note productions) are conduits through which King MAS tells a story of accidental romance while still leaving the listener wanting for more. The perfect set up for the "Ambush" to come..

As far back as 2010, the original recording of "Come Right Back" on Seanizzle's Split Personality rhythm has been a fan favorite but little did King MAS know it would bring him the only collaboration on the album. "A youth linked up my management team at the time concerning the tune going by the name of "Jambino" " MAS explains. "He was a fan of a number of my sounds but particularly struck by this record. That youth is now known as Jemere Morgan". When MAS decided to revisit the tune for the album project, it was only right to reach out to his musical brother and extend the invitation to have him feature the remix of the song that brought them together. MasSicker has in turn become a fan of the budding superstar who is doing quite well with the release of his various hit singles and is currently doing a show in St. Maarten. "Me and Jemere have a good artistic and personal relationship and we will be collaborating in one form or another as the new generation of reggae stars for years to come" says MAS. The remix of this tune is produced by none other than Mitymaose, the 20 year old producer extraordinaire and younger brother to MAS. It features a heavy digital bass kick in combination with acoustic guitar played by MAS fusing the acoustic and digital elements to create a fun, summer time anthem to keep dance halls rocking for years to come..

This one is a haunting, R&B style ballad masterfully written by King MAS produced by "Shane Talon" of Black Talon sounds. "Fight For You" was originally written and recorded over Chimney Records "Steel Strings" rhythm in MasSicker's home studio and quickly rose to over 100,000 hits on youtube (more than any other song on the rhythm) when uploaded by selectress LadyTruthfulley in the fall of 2011. Fans found the tune to be instantly relatable and artistically pleasing on many levels as it easily soared past the artists on the official release in views overnight. With so much love for the lyrical content, it was a necessary addition to the King's first official album although the original rhythm track couldn't be used.

Nobody is complaining.

With a futuristic combination of a heavy kick drum, synthesizers, and pads combined with MasSicker's R&B/Ragga approach to the topic "Fight For You" puts you in a musical realm far from the roots and lovers rock that dominate the album to this point. With it's mainstream appeal and fusion of American and Caribbean style this record has potential to go much further than 140,000 views on youtube...

"It's an interesting story" says MAS. "I was flown out to Norway by "Dreamroc'a" as a songwriter, which is one of my strongest abilities, to create more "pop" oriented records. However, with the unique lyrical content and style with which it was delivered it was eventually proposed that the record should be released under his own project. MAS accepted, and in July of 2011 "One wish" was released with much fanfare and has spawned numerous remixes including the official "Dub Easy" remix which is included in the album version which is a mash up of sorts dreamt up and co-engineered by King MAS himself (the "Sicker" mix). One Wish is a seductive, playful tune in a new millennium reggae/pop fusion style that has had dance halls rocking for over a year now and shows no signs of slowing down..

Although King MAS is already known as a musical warrior in terms of roots and culture, he is quickly becoming one of the most beloved lovers rock performers of this new reggae generation. "Rain Ah Fall" (previously released on his R.A.S. 2.0 Mixtape in 2011) was written on a rainy evening in Ocho Rios at Freddie Cougar's "Drop Di Bass" record studio. "I was there parring with DJ Camran, PZed, Hero and the crew" says Mas. "There was a gentle rain falling outside as a version was being played for one of the artist to voice. Silently, I was putting together a tune in the midst of the excitement". About a year later, King MAS would return to Jamaica with his original riddim composition to compliment the tune and went straight to his favorite bands man on the island, Jallanzo and the Dubtonic Kru. "It just felt right from the first note" Mas recalls. "Jubba recorded first and from the intro I knew the riddim was going to be special". "Rain ah Fall" is a lovers rock masterpiece with a very Jazz/RnB influenced feel from the masterful guitar work of Jallanzo (affectionately called "Yellow") to Luke's smooth piano riffs. This tune is the epitome of the modern reggae ballad from start to finish with the perfect level of musicality to entertain and set the mood when the "Rain Ah Fall"..

"I was only 20 years old and I wasn't as knowledgeable business-wise at the time" says MAS "but the time is coming when they will have to give me my fair share.
This Intro perfectly depicts MasSicker's musical versatility while delivering his mission statement. Produced by his younger brother MityMaose this high energy digital dancehall track (including an obscure Marvin Gaye sample) grabs your attention from the outset. Immediately as this track begins you are greeted by a space age style intro (voiced by backing vocalist Keturah Goldson) in stark contrast to the rustic mosaic image chosen for the cover art.
