In 2014, whilst learning Ableton Live it seemed like a good idea to recreate the those themes for my second track. 18 years later the same android is reactivated in a rave.. slowly its circuits and motors re-energise. Its joints lubricate a little more with each rhythm inspired movement until it goes reaches its full psychedelic dancing potential. Welcome back you crazy android!]]>

This was one of the last major works I did for Shaolin Productions, and represents still one of those most intense and layered mixes I've done to date. Fei drove my balls hard on keeping the intensity high (there's up to 6 tracks layered here at times) and the audio interesting so as to inspire his and Cristal's editing.

a first attempt at getting back in to music production after ~17 years. I used to run a couple of fast tracker trance groups in the mid 90s, Blackhole, and Onyx:Trance... but with leaving university and starting working life my focus shifted - I no longer had the time or energy to produce.

Later, when I moved to London - away from my family - it was another shift that got me back in to DJ'ing - albeit just for friends - where I felt I needed to connect with my musical roots.

Now, in 2014 it is the passing of my Mother that has made me yearn for my time back when I lived with my parents when I had the drive and emotion to create sounds, not just replay other people's.

This is a sketchy, generic, boring track, but it represents a step at getting back to music production after a decade and a half away. This is a dump of the fast tracker 2 module I made in ~1998 for the BMP2 tracker competition, and was around the same time released via Ultrabeat - the goa trance group in mp3 format.

The audio was dumped using "xmplay", since fast tracker doesn't work in windows - so it's unlikely this is 100% accurate reproduction of the audio, but it's been passed through so many mastering plugins it really doesn't sound like the old version any more anyway! :-)
