Jonathan Brincat aka DJ John Sims got into dance music in his early teens. Over the years he became influenced by the likes of Sasha & Digweed, Nick Warren, Dave Seaman, John Quivver Graham and other club scene heavyweights whose music and production he followed avidly. After going to Dance Valley, at the age of 19 John graduated into the world of bedroom DJing. He got his first set of Technics 1210 s a pile of records and a small mixer, learnt the basics and has not looked back since. Eventually John started getting occasional small gigs in local bars and nightclubs. His first big break came in 2004 when he was selected by Quazar promoter Jason Buhagiar to play a warm-up set for one of his idols, Nick Warren. The crowd and promoter were impressed and John was invited to join the Sublime Agency roster. Since then, John Sims has been playing at several major events in Malta alongside top superstar DJs including Sasha, James Zabiela, Rui da Silva, John .Quiver Graham,Matthew Dekay, Andy Morris, Hybrid, Miss Divine and most recently he played a much applauded warm-up set for King Unique. John Sims s style can be described as dirty house with a good dose of electronic house and a slight progressive edge. Through his DJing experiences he has rubbed shoulders with the best and observed and learnt from all of them. In time John mastered the use of CDJs and a variety of audio controllers and is currently working with Ableton Live too. He has fully embraced the latest technology because this gives him the freedom to create and build unique sets which are becoming ever more sophisticated and exciting. The end of 2006 will see John Sims taking his talent overseas, starting with a November gig as special guest at Club Miami in Sicily and followed by international gigs throughout Europe and perhaps beyond. This man is definitely one to keep an eye on. He rocks dance-floors and leaves the crowd breathless every time he plays. Watch this space for more information
