The last 10:24 of this was not live. It was a track that I recorded as a one-shot performance from my home (titled "pThirdReconstruction"). The radio samples I captured and transformed into the drone was a live broadcast, there's no way to get that to be rebroadcast but I wanted to end my set with that message. So I loaded it onto my sampler and worked it in to my set at the end. All of the other radio samples throughout this performance were captured live from FM radio the night of the performance and were transformed into part of the drone sounds you heard. I also realize that most of this part isn't too ambient in that there is a distinct dance beat to a lot of it.

I used an Octatrack to mix the audio from it's own sample banks, an Analog Rytm and an Analog Four. I made all of my own drum sounds for the Rytm using various digital tools, EQ'd them for mixing in Cubase then loaded those samples into the Rytm. The samples in the Octatrack were also pre-EQ'd, most are sequenced, some are triggered and manipulated real time. I also have four synth tracks playing on the Analog Four, all sequenced but with playable effects. All panning around the sound field is done with LFOs on the individual devices(except some of the Octatrack samples, I used Output Movement ahead of time), drums are lightly compressed in the Rytm, delay and reverb is unique to each track and is handled on each device. There were no effects on the master channel, this audio was recorded into Cubase as a live studio performance. It can and will be played as a live set and will be slightly different every time.

The vocal samples are quotations from various writings by Austin Osman Spare and were recorded in my bathroom(I really like the way sound resonates in there and somehow I think that Spare would approve the location).
Mastering: Kri Samadhi

I lived in Chicago for almost 30 years, I didn't realize during that time just how violent daily life is there. I tried to add a sense of that mechanical daily violence in this remix and a somewhat random but nevertheless unrelenting chaos. The Kick Drum and baseline represent the head-down, one heavy-footstep after the other mentality required to live life in Chicago, they never slow down - the patterns get more complex just like our daily lives. The audio clips are all courtesy of Fox News, at last, I have found a use for you - thanks. The Chicago PD clips are louder and more harshly processed because they are that way in life.

127 bpm, progressive techno. I worked on this track for two days and really liked the way it was shaping up. I took a break and went to see a talk at our local college leadership program with my partner. The speaker was Kat Cole, CEO of Cinnabon. Several of the things she said resonated with me - one of which is the phrase "be careful who your idols are". I came home and with those words running through my head started working on the track again. I was going to record some vocals to mix in, it occurred to me that I could borrow from Kat but when I listened to what I already had done I can already hear those words in the french oboe melody. So I left it alone. A more important concept for me though is that too many people in our society idolize things: objects, "possessions", other people - I want to remind everyone (myself included) that the only idols that it is healthy to worship are the GODS that we so easily bury deep within ourselves. None of the others can help us. Peace friends.

</googleplay:description>
