Verse two emphasises his state of helplessness and despair in trying to fight his battles alone. He compares it to walking on a thin rope, a situation in which he will certainly fall and probably have a terrible landing because here is seemingly no one who can catch him.
In the bridge, he comes to a place where he is sanding still, reaching out for His helping hand, hoping and trusting that He is near. He chooses to remain still, figuratively siting down hoping that God will “come by” and find him. All he wants now is a closer walk with Him, a refreshing conversation with His creator that should restore the joy, peace, love and the sense of belonging.
This song is for someone who is willing to make a new start, and embrace paradoxical concepts like “backward progression”, “forward regression”, “falling upwards” or “rising downwards”.
