Expats EP - Monochrome Recordings

by Jaskin

Growing up in the vibrant city of Vilnius, capital of Lithuania, Jaskin became very interested in music during childhood. The sounds of Electronica, Jazz and Rock music were constantly filling his home, making a huge impact on his early years. Teenage years were marked by picking up a guitar and starting a small punk rock band with friends from school. Jaskin soon realized that syncopated and energetic beats were something that caught his ear more so than anything else. Bands like Depeche Mode, Slipknot, and Rammstein, were gradually painting the background of things to come.

Once Jaskin discovered Prodigy, electronic music sucked him in with it's vibes, and never let him go. His first Drum & Bass event was going to see Technical Itch play. This set made a massive influence on Jaskin and after that, music was never the same again. His first favorite tunes were Technical Itch "The Rukus" and Jonny L "Piper", which led to a strict diet of exploring the past and present of the Drum & Bass, Jungle underground. By 2006, Jaskin had started collecting tons of Drum & Bass records and learned the technical side of how to spin them. In early 2007, he played his debut 'neurofunk' / 'technoid' set under the alias of DJ diGreez. One thing led to another, and he soon became involved with the prominent Lithuanian crew "Coherence Promo" who hosted events with headliners such as Noisia, Black Sun Empire, Kano or Allied to name a few.

Over time Jaskin's tastes for the music evolved, but he still remained true to heavy broken beats and deep basslines. His preferences shifted towards 'drumfunk' and more syncopated Drum & Bass, Jungle music. Finally by 2011, Jaskin moved to UK, the birthplace of his beloved musical genre. After two years of settling in, Jaskin started his own radio show, promo project "86Beatz", now part of one of the biggest, best online Drum & Bass radio stations – Jungletrain! 2014 marked a new step in his musical development, as he is now producing his own beats and hosting the "Squares" and “Shattered” nights in London. Jaskin's events are aimed at bringing out the greatest talents in the scene, hosting the best Drum & Bass music around. With that said, be on the look out for Jaskin's events around London, and make sure to tune into his 86Beatz radio show, now featured on jungletrain.net every even Tuesday night from 10PM to 12AM (CET) / 1-3PM (PST).
