Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band, co founded by August Darnell, aka Kid Creole, unleashed the classic disco/funk stomper "Cherchez La Femme" on 7 inch in 1976 on RCA. Interestingly enough, after leaving the group, Darnell joined Machine and co-wrote "There But For The Grace Of God" and had a hand in producing for Don Armando's Second Avenue Rhumba Band. A handful of classics we grew up with written or co-written by a talented musician who hails from the Bronx. I believe that's Cory Daye on vocals.
It took some doing to put this mix together. I hesitated from posting. Could not locate an instrumental. Not sure if there was ever one released. I added an additional foot and percussions. I attempted to use a vocal eraser to create a break but to no avail. Original intro, some edits. Had to create an outro using additional foot. Ran it through SoundForge filters, Platinum Notes and Mashup2. Clocks in at 5:13, 117bpm, 320kbps.
