Actually I only started a year ago in the summer of 2016, just by uploading a personal mixtape on soundcloud. Before that I had been a big lover of electronic music for more than 6 years, and after I've had my fair share of beautiful, life changing experiences in great parties, I decided it was time to make something that would reflect my own thoughts and feelings towards electronic music.
I got some positive feedback from my first mix, but continued to do them for to own pleasure mostly. For me, DJing is first and foremost a medium to convey messages and tell stories and to deal with my own emotions. So especially in the beginning all of my mixes were inspired by personal events and feelings in my own life.
I made quite a few of those mixes under the headline "Dreamscape" and then actually Deep Techno Sounds was my first guest mix for another channel 🙂
After that came Kurt Kjergaards Beach Podcast, then Mußa from Hamburg, Malmö Antenn web radio, Melodic.Deep.House Podcast and then CMB Radio. (I'll send all the link at once later)
CMB Radio was a new radio channel starting in Colombo, Sri Lanka and they asked me to start hosting a weekly 1-hour radio show every Friday, so I've been doing that for a couple of months now.
After this new year I'll make a mix for BSVSMGpodcast in Berlin, which I'm also really looking forward to since many artists I look up to have also been featured in the series.
In addition to that I've played in a few underground parties and a bar in Helsinki, but I feel that at the moment the scene there favors mostly a different sounds that is more minimal techno or detroit techno. So that's why we mostly only go underground.
Then I spent 2015-2016 in Berlin and that naturally also had a big influence on me and my music. I had always loved the same kind of music but certain clubs, namely Kater Blau opened my eyes to the fact that there can exist places where my kind of music is played constantly. Not to mention Fusion and Garbicz which have been one of the best experiences of my life 🙂.
Now a few weeks ago I moved to the Netherlands to study art and I wish to pursue my music career further here, start playing live more and also start playing with music production. In the future I'm really interetsed in discovering the possibilities of combining art, music and societal issues together. How to raise those questions with music and how dancing can act as a way of liberation and equality, and how parties are a place where people can build a common ground etc.
Long story 😀 I guess that's enough for now!
For me music is always more about the message, the story and the emotion than about "partying" itself, even though of course I love that part of it too 😀
