Welcome to ep3 of the Tech House Series.

Tech house is a subgenre of house music that mixes elements of techno with house. The term tech house developed as a shorthand record store name for a category of electronic dance music that combined musical aspects of techno, such as "rugged basslines" and "steely beats," with the harmonies and grooves of progressive house...As a mixing style, tech-house often brings together deep or minimal techno music, the soulful and jazzy end of house, some minimal techno....There is some overlap with progressive house, which too can contain deep, soulful, dub, and techno elements (Wikipedia) It is said to have origins in the UK from around the 1990's.

It is interesting when trying to define tech house that there is a tendency to see an overlap and sometimes even a fusion of sub genres of house music from techno to progressive. With the Deep House Series well established, the Techno Series going from strength to strength it was only natural to progress with to be honest my favourite, tech house. Again, with these mixes, I look to the dj to give their own personal interpretation of what is tech house.

Groovetonic is a dj/producer residing in Italy. He is another dj/producer who I have been following especially with his producing. To my ears, you get nice classic tech house beats and you can hear this in his latest release, soundcloud.com/groovetonic/gro...-groovepp-music where he goes ol' skool house with the vocals but keeps the classic tech housebeat at the same time. Whether it is with or without vocals, it just simply works how he fuses house music with techno. As he puts it,

"As the genre's name,for me tech house its a "bridge" between house and techno. It's my favourite style for now because it brings together these two genres of music. I like to play in my sets more variety of genre of music from house to techno, so it could be melodic, deep or more underground."
