To keep the dancefloor going, I threw in a few old school Detroit grooves and touched on a couple of other 80's tunes as well.

It was a really fun night. The first DJ played vinyl so the engineer was worried about the needle jumping (it is a cinema after all). Due to this set-up and unusual logistics of the place, we all had to play with our backs to the crowd; that was quite unusual and it must have influenced my selection and the way I mixed the tracks....not sure whether it was a good or bad thing....you decide. I was requested to play a blend of disco, house and nu-disco…I decided to search out appropriate superhero music to fit the bill and well….a touch of a 70s *Batman theme*, Prince's *Batdance* and Quincy Jones' '*Soul Bossa Nova*' (= Austin Powers theme) seemed to do the trick; all mixed in to keep the flow. What a fun night, the floor was moving, happy smiling people grooving, from start to finish. NJOY!

**Note**! Teddy Pendergrass remix (at about 34 mins) sounds best with lots of bass; a real Big Room grinder, no real audible bass on small speakers

In 1989 DJs played all night long, 11pm - 5am using vinyl. This recording was an early part of my Saturday set: 'Live @ Club RoXY'. My sets were broadcast weekly on Amsterdam FM. Because other resident DJs usually forgot, I provided the recordings for the first few years. Ow yes....the picture was also @ Club RoXY, 1989....hahaha.

What I noticed about the selection, it was influenced a lot more by the New York / New Jersey house sound whereas before that I played a lot more deep and acid house with less vocals.]]>
