Details: Almost anyone can play prime time, but after almost 20 years of DJ'ng clubs of all sizes, one thing remains the same - not everyone can set off the vibe. I enjoy recording my live opening sets. There really is so much freedom to a warm-up. Your track choices should be limitless depending on where you want to take the night. Once you hit 1230am and the party has reached its fever pitch, if you've done your job then you should be able to rinse through top 40 hits and allow the crowd to enjoy themselves. "Prime Time" is no time to educate. However, the vibe setter is the perfect opportunity to showcase your musical knowledge, ability to mix smooth + continuous mixes, flare, ability to ride the beat with an a cappella or a vicious blend. Recently, I had dropped a few sets at Cabin 5 on Richmond St. in Toronto. Here are a few of my "vibe setters" during that time. Enjoy.
