Hi Music Lovers,
Being a big fan of Gino Vannelli, especially of his music from the mid 70's area, I've always been amazed of his musical arrangements...
This beautiful song was initially recorded on the 1975 Storm at Sunup album, where you can also find the "Mama Coco" anthem...
inside the very talented cast of musician, that includes Joe Vannelli (Gino's brother) there is one particular guy called Graham Lear.
Graham Lear is an incredible Drummer, who 2 years after having recorded this album with Gino's band, went to join force with Carlos Santana...
Graham Lear stayed actually with the Santana band for many years, and he did recorded some amazing albums there...
On this special Rework of "Getting' High", I have locked the BPM at 115. I spent a lot of time on the rhythm section, and had really fun with the percussions...
Hope you'll like it.
By the way, I love the opening rhyme that Gino is singing :
"... I don't care much for smokin' weed...
... You know I'm a man of a different breed...
... I don't thrive on drinking alcohol...
... 'sides I'm feeling much too tall..."
Real maestri !
The Cool Notes were a Brit Funk combo, originally from south London, who released in the mid 80's this nice piece of Groove,
"You're Never Too Young" was, and even still is, a favorite in my DJ sets, (among other tracks from this band such as "In Your Car"...)
I wanted to add my touch on this one, and as usual I did not have access to any stems or multitrackss...
I only had to deal with the original song from their album...
BIP is 108.
This time you will find 2 different parts in my Rework :
1/ a long bonus intro, in which I decided to highlight the Bass and Drum duo with an "Ass kicker" kind of sound ...
2/ an extended version reworked from the original track.
So that, you have 2 Reworks in 1... That allows you to choose on the fly which part you would decide to play, after having put hot cue points on either parts of the track...
I also would like to offer you, for a very limited period, top download my rework on my Hearthis page...
Make sure to not miss this opportunity :-)

Hi Music Lovers,
My rework is available on Juno Download here: http://www.junodownload.com/labels/Midnight+Riot/releases/
Miss Cheryl Lynn "Sleepwalkin", the original track was recorded for the "Instant Love" album in 1982 under Luther Vandross/ Marcus Miller production umbrella.
I also wanted to have a follow up for my Aretha Franklin "It's Your Thing" rework that I did 1 year ago, as it is the same kind of production, with almost the same incredible cast of musicians:
-Marcus Miller on Bass
-Yogi Horton on Drums
-Nat Adderley on Keyboards
-Steve Lowe on Guitar (who replaced Doc Powell for this particular session.)
So that means, this Cheryl Lynn rework is number 2 on this trilogie, you can expect in the future a 3rd track reworked from Luther Vandross/ Marcus Miller original productions.
I love Cheryl Lynn and I play a lot of her songs in my sets.
Please be informed that I didn't have any stems or multitrack to proceed my rework; I used the original records from my collection and, beside the new beat that I added, all the other Drums and Bass sounds that you hear is from my original album.
Please be kind to repost it, play it as much as you can.
Let's burn the dancefloor, party people in the house !
Peace y'all !!!

BPM is locked at 125.

The first Steely Dan LP I bought in the early 8O's was Can't Buy a Thrill with the Do It Again anthem... Then Gaucho came out and I was blown away by these Music masters; I bought every album they released, and I remember that Aja (on which this gem came from) was the 3rd of their LPs that I bought.
I still own the vinyl that got played on and on in parties, and while I was hunting for a better sounding version of it, I might have bought 3 more different CD albums of the same Aja.
When Steely Dan did their come back in 93/94 with the Live tour in the US, I was so happy, plus they decided to hire Dennis Chambers on Drums, and he did such a great work...
I have always in search of a real enhanced and DJ friendly edit of this cult track, but I never found it.
So I decided to work myself on a rework...
Nuff Respect to Donald Fagen and Walter Becker for having done such incredible music !!!
Enjoy party people in the house !

Hi Music Lovers,
While DJing for private parties these dayz at the Cannes Film Festival, I wanted to calm down a little bit the BPM, and come back to a Sexy kind of slow jam...
The track that I chose "La Décadence" was originally recorded in 1971 by Serge Gainsbourg with the participation of Jane Birkin, and it includes a bunch of very talented musicians such as English soundtrack composer Alan Parker on guitar...
You will recognize the same kind of vibe that already appeared on Mister Gainsbourg's previous hit "Je T'aime Moi Non Plus" in 1969...
It's a Love song, on which I wanted to enhance the kinda sexy striptease dance flavor that you could imagine...
I have worked on the re-creating a new Drum & Bass duo with some extra spices, and of course a nice highlight on Alan Parker's guitar riffs...
Hope you will have fun with it, please be kind to re post it, re share it and play it as much as you can...
I have opened a free download for it on my Hearthis account here : https://hearthis.at/fwB3rKNL/
Many thanks to all of you for your continuing great support !
And let's bring back Love on this earth, through this Rework !
It was like a dream becoming true for many Steely Dan aficionados like me...
Rosie Vela had real good skills for songwriting, playing music and singing...

Hi Music Lovers,
A Funky track from Miss Marilyn Scott 1983 album originally produced by Michael Sembello that I wanted to re vamp...
There is the full cast of the Yellow Jackets on this one, including her husband Russell Ferrante on Keyboards, Rickie Lawson on Drums, and Jimmy Haslip on Bass (incredible Bass player who is playing "left handed" on a "right handed" turned Bass...)

BPM is 99;
I had real fun in reworking on a Back Beat to enhance Rickie Lawson's incredible drumming...
I also wanted to add a short intro that could drive the track "Ragamuffin styleeeee" ! ... But just for the into...
At the end you will hear a wonderful solo on the Rhodes by Russell Ferrante that I wanted to extend a bit, in order to enhance the pleasure of hearing it.
Miss Marilyn Scott is currently preparing a new album, and needless to say that I recommend you to watch out for it.
Please buy and listen to all her wonderful Jazz albums, you'll find some incredible mellow and love songs.

And last but not least, you can expect more tracks reworked to come from my side, from the original Yellow Jackets albums.
Enjoy party people in the house !
Please buy and listen to all her wonderful Jazz albums, you'll find some incredible mellow and love songs.

And last but not least, you can expect more tracks reworked to come from my side, from the original Yellow Jackets albums.
Enjoy party people in the house !
<itunes:summary>Hi Music Lovers,
A Funky track from Miss Marilyn Scott 1983 album originally produced by Michael Sembello that I wanted to re vamp...
There is the full cast of the Yellow Jackets on this one, including her husband Russell Ferrante on Keyboards, Rickie Lawson on Drums, and Jimmy Haslip on Bass (incredible Bass player who is playing "left handed" on a "right handed" turned Bass...)

BPM is 99;
I had real fun in reworking on a Back Beat to enhance Rickie Lawson's incredible drumming...
I also wanted to add a short intro that could drive the track "Ragamuffin styleeeee" ! ... But just for the into...

Hi Music lovers,
This is a D.J. friendly version that I have adapted from my Stevie & the FleetMacs "Down Here, In The Sea Of Love" Rework.
On this version, I have made some subtle modifications:
- a D.J. beat was added (drums + percussions.)
- some peaks were adapted according to this addition.
BPM is still locked at 128.
I believe these modifications might interest some of you who might prefer to play a more D.J. friendly track.
Enjoy !

Hi Music Lovers, here is finally my personal Rework of this early 80's anthem, the classic "Hey Nineteen" track from the Gaucho album...
Ya'll know my love and respect for all Steely Dan music !..
Donald Fagen and Walter Becker are incredibly good, So I wanted to, very modestly pay tribute to their musical maestri through this personal re-look...
I have added the participation of the dynamic duo of Pete Rock & C.L Smooth on the intro, but the original track is already sooo good in its former version that I did not want to touch it a lot.
Just wanted to refresh the incredible original drumming from Rick Marota, and, of course, give more space to Donald Fagen's original percussive Rhodes chords, and I also, by the way, extended Don's solo from its original form...
Peace y'all !!!
